Jude 1, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
Jude, a humble servant of Jesus and brother to James, sends his greetings to those who are made holy by God, protected by Jesus, and chosen for a special purpose.
Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
May abundant kindness, tranquility, and love fill your heart.
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
My dear friends, I felt a deep urge to write to you about the salvation we all share. I found it necessary to encourage you to fight passionately for the faith that was once entrusted to all believers.
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Beware, some men have secretly infiltrated us. These men, destined for judgment since long ago, are ungodly. They twist God's grace into a license for immorality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
I want to remind you, even though you already know, of the time when God rescued people from Egypt but later destroyed those who didn't believe in Him.
And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
The angels who abandoned their original home are now bound by unending chains in darkness, awaiting the final judgment day.
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Just like Sodom and Gomorrah, cities that indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desires, they serve as a warning, enduring the punishment of everlasting fire.
Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
In the same way, these impure dreamers defile their own bodies, reject authority, and slander those in high positions.
Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
Even Michael, the highest angel, while arguing with the devil over Moses' body, didn't dare to insult him. Instead, he simply said, "May God correct you."
But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
They criticize what they don't understand, and their innate knowledge, like mindless animals, only leads them to harm themselves.
Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
Woe to them! They've followed Cain's destructive path, rushed greedily after Balaam's error for personal gain, and perished in Core's rebellion.
These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without shame and feeding only themselves. They are like empty clouds blown by the wind, or fruitless trees, twice dead and pulled up by the roots.
Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
Like furious ocean waves, their guilt bubbles up as foam; like lost stars, they're destined for eternal darkness.
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
Enoch, a seventh-generation descendant of Adam, passionately foretold this: Watch out, the Lord is coming, accompanied by countless of his holy followers.
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
He comes to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of every ungodly thing they have done, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.
These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.
These are grumblers and whiners, driven by their own desires. They flatter others for personal gain, using grandiose words and false praise.
But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
My dear ones, always keep in mind the teachings given to us by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
They warned you about those who would ridicule faith in the end times, driven by their own unholy desires.
These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
These are the ones who separate themselves, driven by their senses, without the Spirit.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
My dear ones, strengthen yourselves with your sacred faith, and pray with the divine spirit's guidance.
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Stay embraced in God's love, eagerly await the compassion of our Savior Jesus Christ, leading you to everlasting life.
And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Have compassion on some, telling one case from another.
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Save others with fear, pulling them out of the fire, detesting even the slightest stain of corruption on them.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Trust in Him who can protect you from stumbling, and who can present you as flawless in the radiant light of His glory, filled with immense joy.
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
May our wise and loving God, our Savior, forever be honored and revered. May He always hold strength and authority, now and forever. So be it.
