Privacy Policy

The entire Bible ships inside the app and is read on your device. The app asks you to sign in, so that what you keep stays yours across devices, and it counts how the app is used so we can see what is worth building. If you speak with one of the people from the Bible, what you write is sent to our server so it can be answered. None of it is advertising, and none of it is tracking. This website — separate from the app — uses Google Analytics, described below.

Your account

The app asks you to sign in, with Apple, Google, or an email address and password — and so does the web app at app.worldbible.guide, with the same three and the same account. Signing in creates an account identified by an internal identifier, and your email address and name come from whichever provider you chose. We never see your password in any case — Apple and Google do not give it to us, and an email password is held by our identity provider, not by us.

The account exists so that what you accumulate is yours rather than the phone's: your conversations and your subscription follow you to a new device instead of being lost with the old one. Signing in with Apple gives you the option to hide your real email address, and the app works exactly the same either way.

What the app collects

Reading sends us nothing. The Bible text, the artwork and the daily verse are on your device.

Speaking with a persona sends what you write to our server, where it is answered and stored as part of that conversation, because the feature cannot work otherwise. A conversation you leave open is kept so you can come back to it, on that device or any other you sign in on.

There are two ways to speak, and they do different things with what you say. Walking a journey builds a picture of you from what you write along the way — recurring themes, what you seem to seek, how you appear to decide. You can read that picture in the app at any time, under Your picture in the Speak tab, and it is shown to nobody else. Asking a question does not: it is answered and saved so you can read it again, and it is no part of that picture. The app says which is which before you choose.

The app also records how it is used — which screens are opened, which people are spoken with, whether things worked — through Google Analytics for Firebase. What you write is never included in that: not your questions, and not the replies. It records that a conversation happened, not what was said in it.

These are declared in the app's App Store privacy manifest as Other User Content, User ID, Product Interaction and Device ID, each linked to you, and none used for tracking. The app collects no advertising identifier at all, so nothing here is ever combined with data from other companies' apps or sites. None of it is sold or shared with data brokers.

Your choice about being counted

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks before it counts anything, and collects nothing until you answer. Everywhere else it is on by default.

Either way the switch is in Settings → Privacy, it is shown to everybody, and turning it off stops the collection from that moment. Withdrawing is meant to be as easy as agreeing.

What this website collects

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. It records pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, referring site, and general device and browser type, and it sets cookies to do so. We use it only in aggregate — we never try to identify individual visitors, and the data is not sold or used for advertising.

Browser "Do Not Track" settings, content blockers, and Google's own opt-out add-on all prevent this collection. The website's analytics and the app's are separate systems with separate settings: the switch described above governs the app, and nothing on this page governs both.

What follows you between devices

Since September 2026, a few small things travel with your account so that picking up a different device does not mean starting again: the verses you have kept, where you stopped reading, your text size, which wording you open in, and whether you want a verse each morning. They are stored against your account and nowhere else, and they are the only settings that leave a device.

Everything else stays where it is. The Bible you have downloaded for offline reading, an unsent draft, which tab you were on, and your answer about being counted are all on the device you set them on. The last of those is deliberate: agreeing to be counted in one browser is not agreeing on your phone, and we do not answer that for you.

Subscriptions

On iPhone and iPad, subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple: purchases, renewals and cancellations go through your Apple Account, and we never see your payment details. On the web they are processed by Stripe, which collects and holds the card details on its own pages — we never see them either. What we store in both cases is the same and no more: that a subscription exists, which service it came from, whether it is active, and when it renews.

One subscription covers every device you sign in on, which is why it is attached to your account rather than to a phone. Cancel it wherever you bought it — in your Apple Account settings, or from the account page on the web.

Who else is involved

Three companies, and no others. Google, whose Firebase handles signing in and, if you agree to it, the counting described above. Stripe, for payments made on the web. And the hosting our own servers run on. None of them is given anything to use for their own advertising, and nothing is sold or shared with data brokers.

Deleting your account

Write to us through any of the accounts linked at the bottom of this page and we will remove your account and everything attached to it — your conversations, the picture your journeys built, what you have kept, and what you have set. Cancel a subscription first, wherever you bought it, since we cannot cancel Apple's or Stripe's on your behalf.

Children

The app is not directed at children, and reading the Bible collects no personal information from anyone. An account and a conversation collect what is described plainly above. Nothing collected anywhere in the app is used for advertising or tracking, and none of it is combined with data from other companies. The picture built from your journeys is described above; it is made for you to read, is never used to target or advertise anything to you, and is shown to no one else. The website's analytics are aggregate and are not used to build profiles of visitors of any age.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
