Read 1 John in the King James Version, with a plain-language reading beneath every verse. Here are a few to start with.
From 1 John
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
From the start, we've heard, seen, and touched the living Word.
These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
I've penned these words for you about those who try to lead you astray.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
Dear friends, let's show love to each other, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves is a child of God and understands Him.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
If you don't love, you don't truly understand God, because God is the embodiment of love.
