Isaiah 43, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
The Lord, your Creator, Jacob, and your Maker, Israel, says, "Don't be afraid. I've saved you. I've called you by name. You are mine."
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
As you journey through life's toughest challenges, remember, you're not alone. I'm right there with you. Whether you're navigating deep waters or raging rivers, they won't consume you. Even if you're in the midst of fiery trials, you won't be harmed; the flames won't touch you.
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
As your God, the Sacred One from Israel, your Savior, I've traded Egypt, Ethiopia, and Seba to ensure your freedom.
Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
You are cherished and honored in my eyes, and I love you deeply. So much so, I would sacrifice others to protect you.
Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
Don't be afraid, for I am always by your side. I will bring your descendants from the east and unite you all from the west.
I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
I command the north, surrender; and the south, hold nothing back. Bring my sons and daughters home, from every distant corner of the earth.
Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Everyone who bears my name was crafted by me, for my honor. I shaped them, indeed, I brought them into existence.
Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.
Bring out the people who are blind even though they have eyes, and deaf even though they have ears.
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
Gather everyone, every nation, every person. Who can recount the past, show us what was? Let them step forward, their truth their defense. Or let them listen and acknowledge, yes, this is the truth.
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
You are my witnesses, says the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may truly know, believe, and understand that I am the only God. There was none before me, and there will be none after me.
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
It is I, only I, who am the Lord. There's no other savior but me.
I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.
I've proclaimed, rescued, and revealed when no other gods were present. So, you are my proof, says the Lord, that I am the only God.
Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
Before time itself, I existed; no one can escape my grasp. I will act, and who can stop me?
Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.
The Lord, your savior and Israel's sacred protector, declares: For you, I've confronted Babylon, humbled their elite, and silenced the cries of the Chaldeans echoing from their ships.
I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
I am your Divine Guide, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, and your Sovereign Leader.
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
The Lord declares, "I create paths through the ocean, trails amidst the powerful waves."
Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.
He who summons the horse and chariot, the soldiers and their strength; they will fall together, never to rise again. They are extinguished, snuffed out like a wick.
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Forget about the past, don't dwell on old memories.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Look, I'm about to create something new and amazing; it's already happening - can't you see it? I'll make a road through the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
The wild animals will honor me, the jackals and the owls, for I am the one who brings life-giving water to barren lands and flowing rivers to parched deserts. All this, I do to quench the thirst of my chosen people.
This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
I have personally shaped these individuals; they are destined to express their admiration for me.
But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.
Jacob, you haven't reached out to me; it seems you've grown tired of me, Israel.
Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.
You haven't given me your small livestock as offerings, nor have you honored me with your sacrifices. I haven't burdened you with demands for offerings, nor have I exhausted you with requests for incense.
Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.
You've not gifted me with precious offerings, nor satisfied me with your sacrifices. Instead, you've burdened me with your wrongdoings, exhausting me with your sins.
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
It is I, yes, I, who wipes away your transgressions for my own sake, and chooses to forget your sins.
Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
Remind me, let's discuss this together. Speak your truth, so you may find righteousness.
Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.
Your earliest ancestor committed a sin, and those who taught you have wronged me.
Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.
So I have disgraced the leaders of the sanctuary, handed Jacob over to the curse of destruction, and subjected Israel to scorn.
