Mark 13, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
As he left the sacred temple, one of his followers excitedly pointed out, "Teacher, look at these incredible stones and magnificent structures!"
And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Jesus responded, "Do you see these magnificent structures? Not a single stone will remain standing, everything will be torn down."
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
As he rested on the Olive Mountain, overlooking the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew quietly approached him with their questions.
Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
When will all this happen? And how will we know when everything is about to come to an end?
And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:
Jesus responded to them, warning, "Be careful, don't let anyone trick you."
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Numerous individuals will claim to be me, the Messiah, misleading many with their false promises.
And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
When you hear about conflicts and whispers of war, don't let fear consume you. These events are inevitable, but they don't signal the end just yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Countries will clash, kingdoms will crumble. Earthquakes will shake various lands, and hunger and hardship will spread. These are the first signs of sorrow.
But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
Be careful, for you will face trials. You'll be handed over to authorities, punished in places of worship, and brought before leaders and royalty because of me. This will serve as a witness against them.
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
The good news must first be shared with every corner of the world.
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
When they take you away, don't worry about what to say. Don't plan it. Just speak what comes to you in that moment. It won't be you speaking, but the Divine Spirit within you.
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.
A time will come when a brother will betray his own brother to be put to death, and a father his son. Children will rebel against their parents, even to the point of having them put to death.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Everyone will hate you because of your faith in me, but if you stay strong till the end, you'll find salvation.
But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
When you witness the horrifying sacrilege, foretold by Prophet Daniel, in a place it shouldn't be, (may the reader grasp this,) those in Judaea should seek refuge in the mountains.
And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:
If you're on the rooftop, don't go back into the house or try to grab anything from it.
And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
If you're out in the fields, don't rush back just to grab your coat.
But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Alas, for the pregnant women and nursing mothers during those troubled times!
And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.
Pray that your escape doesn't happen during the harsh winter.
For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.
In those days, there will be suffering like never before, from the dawn of creation until now, and it won't be repeated.
And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.
If it wasn't for God's mercy in shortening those difficult times, no one would have survived. But for the sake of those He has chosen, He has made those hard times shorter.
And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
If anyone tells you, "Look, here is the Messiah," or "There he is," don't believe them.
For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
Beware, for deceitful messiahs and prophets will emerge, performing miracles to trick, if they could, even the most faithful.
But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
Be alert: I've already warned you about everything.
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
After the time of great suffering, the sun will lose its brightness, and the moon will no longer shine.
And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
The stars will tumble from the sky, and the heavenly forces will tremble in fear.
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
And then, they will witness the arrival of the Son of man, amidst the clouds, radiating immense strength and splendor.
And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
He will call upon His angels, who will lovingly collect His chosen ones from every corner of the earth and the farthest reaches of heaven.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:
Consider the lesson from the fig tree. When its branch is still young and sprouts leaves, you can sense that summer is just around the corner.
So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.
When you witness these events unfolding, realize that the time is near, right at your doorstep.
Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
Truly, I assure you, this generation won't pass away until everything I've mentioned comes to pass.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Even when the sky and ground crumble and fade, my promises will forever stand strong and unbroken.
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
No one, not even the angels in heaven or the Son, knows the exact time and day, only the Father does.
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
Stay alert, pray constantly, for you never know when the moment will arrive.
For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Just like a man going on a long trip, who leaves his home, entrusts responsibilities to his staff, assigns tasks to everyone, and instructs the doorman to stay alert, so is the Son of Man.
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
Stay alert, because you never know when the head of the house will return. It could be evening, midnight, dawn, or morning.
Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
Don't let him catch you off-guard, asleep when he arrives unexpectedly.
And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
I urge everyone, not just you, to stay alert and vigilant.
