Galatians 5, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Hold strong to the freedom that Christ has given us, and don't let yourself be trapped by past chains.
Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
Listen closely, I, Paul, am telling you, if you choose circumcision, you won't gain anything from Christ.
For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
I assure every man who has been circumcised, he is obligated to follow all the laws.
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
If you're relying on religious laws to make you right with God, you've lost connection with Christ's love. His sacrifice becomes meaningless to you.
For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Through the Spirit, we patiently anticipate the promise of righteousness that comes from faith.
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
In Jesus Christ, it doesn't matter if you're circumcised or not; what truly matters is a faith that is driven by love.
Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
You were doing great; what stopped you from following the truth?
This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
This belief doesn't come from the one who calls you.
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
A small amount of influence can change everything.
I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
I trust in you, through the Lord, that you'll stay strong in your beliefs. But whoever is troubling you will bear God's judgment, whoever he may be.
And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
My friends, if I still advocate for the old ways like circumcision, why am I still facing hostility? If that were true, then the controversy of the cross would no longer exist.
I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
As for those who are troubling you over circumcision, I wish they would go the whole way and cut themselves off!
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Dear friends, you've been gifted with freedom; but don't misuse this freedom to indulge your selfish desires. Instead, use it to lovingly serve each other.
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
The essence of all laws can be captured in one simple phrase: Treat others with the same love and kindness you'd want for yourself.
But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
If you hurt each other, be careful not to destroy each other.
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
I urge you, live guided by God's Spirit, and you'll resist the pull of earthly desires.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Your earthly desires battle against the Spirit, and the Spirit against them, each opposing the other, so that you don't simply do whatever you want.
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
If you let your heart guide you by the Spirit, you're not bound by the rules.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
The outcomes of our earthly desires are clear: adultery, sexual immorality, impurity, and unrestrained lust,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Worshipping false gods, practicing dark magic, harboring hate, sowing discord, fostering jealousy, unleashing anger, promoting conflict, causing divisions, and forming factions,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Let me remind you again, as I've done before, that those who let envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and similar behaviors rule their lives, will not inherit God's kingdom.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
The Spirit's gifts are heartfelt love, pure joy, inner peace, enduring patience, gentle kindness, genuine goodness, and unwavering faith.
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Humility and self-control: no law can condemn these virtues.
And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Those who belong to Christ have let go of their earthly desires and passions.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
If we exist through divine energy, let's also guide our actions with this sacred force.
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Let's not chase empty praise, stir up conflict, or be jealous of each other.
