From 1 Samuel

Once upon a time, in the mountainous region of Ephraim, lived a man named Elkanah. He hailed from Ramathaimzophim, a lineage tracing back to Zuph, through Tohu, Elihu, and Jeroham. Elkanah was an Ephrathite, proud and true.
Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:
I could never bear the guilt of sinning against God by not praying for you. Instead, I promise to guide you towards goodness and righteousness.
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
God told Samuel, "Don't judge by his looks or height, I've not chosen him. People see the outer persona, but I see the heart."
And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.
Regarding the issue we've discussed, may God forever stand as a witness between you and me.
