Acts 3, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
Peter and John, united in faith, ascended to the temple, their hearts echoing with prayers, as the ninth hour chimed.
And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
A man, crippled since birth, was brought daily to the temple gate called Beautiful. There, he would humbly beg for charity from those who came to worship.
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
Seeing Peter and John about to enter the temple, a man humbly asked for charity.
And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
With a steady gaze, Peter, alongside John, implored, "Please, pay attention to us."
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
He attentively listened to them, eagerly hoping they would give him something.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Peter declared, "I may not have silver or gold, but what I do have, I offer to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, find the strength to stand and walk."
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
He gently grasped his right hand, hoisting him up. Instantly, a surge of power filled his feet and ankles, making them strong.
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
Overwhelmed with joy, he sprang up, stood firm, and walked. He joined them in the temple, his steps lively and his praises for God echoing through the air.
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
Everyone witnessed him strolling joyfully, expressing his gratitude to God.
And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
They recognized him as the man who used to beg at the temple's Beautiful gate. They were awestruck and amazed by the transformation they saw in him.
And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.
As the healed man clung to Peter and John, a wave of awe swept through the crowd that had gathered on Solomon's porch.
And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
Seeing the crowd's astonishment, Peter addressed them, "People of Israel, why are you so amazed? Do you think we healed this man through our own power or goodness?"
The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
The God who was worshipped by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, our ancestors, has honored His Son, Jesus. Despite this, you handed Jesus over and rejected Him before Pilate, even when Pilate wanted to set Him free.
But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
You rejected the Sacred and Righteous One, choosing instead to free a killer.
And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
You took the life of the Prince of life, but God, in His power, brought Him back from death's grasp. We are witnesses of this.
And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
It is Jesus' name, through faith in His name, that has made this man you see and know strong. Indeed, the faith that comes through Him has healed him completely, right here in front of everyone.
And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.
My dear brothers and sisters, I understand that you acted out of unawareness, just like your leaders did.
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
God had already revealed through His prophets that Christ would endure suffering, and this prophecy has indeed come to pass.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
Feel deep regret for your past actions and turn back to God, so that your sins may be wiped away when the time of renewal comes from the Lord.
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
He will send Jesus Christ, the one you've heard about before.
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Heaven must receive and keep Him until everything is restored as God promised through his holy prophets since the dawn of time.
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
Moses sincerely told our ancestors, "God will send you a prophet, a brother like me. Listen carefully to everything he tells you."
And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Everyone who refuses to listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.
Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
Indeed, every prophet since Samuel, and all who came after him, passionately predicted these very days.
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
You are the cherished offspring of the prophets, born from the sacred promise God made with our ancestors. He told Abraham, "Through your descendants, every family on earth will be blessed."
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
God, in His love, first sent His Son Jesus to you. He came to bless you, guiding each of you away from your wrongdoings.
