Zechariah 6, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.
I turned around, my eyes wide with awe, and saw four chariots emerging from between two towering, brass-like mountains.
In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;
In the first chariot, spirited red horses pranced; while the second chariot was drawn by solemn black horses.
And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.
In the third carriage, pure white horses pranced; while in the fourth, a mix of speckled and reddish-brown horses trotted.
Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord?
With curiosity and awe, I turned to the angel speaking to me and asked, "What are these, my guide?"
And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the LORD of all the earth.
The angel responded to me, "These are the four heavenly spirits, who have been in the presence of the Lord, the ruler of the entire world, and are now being sent out."
The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country.
The dark horses gallop towards the cold north, followed by the pure white ones. Meanwhile, the speckled ones journey towards the warm south.
And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth.
The reddish-brown horses set out, eager to go and patrol the earth. He told them, "Go, patrol the earth." And so they went to and fro across the whole earth.
Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.
He called out to me, saying, "See, those heading to the northern lands have brought peace to my soul there."
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Suddenly, I felt a powerful message from the Lord wash over me, whispering,
Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;
Take gifts from the returned exiles Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have come back from Babylon. On that very day, go to the home of Josiah, Zephaniah's son.
Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;
Gather your silver and gold, craft them into crowns. Place these crowns gently on the head of Joshua, Josedech's son, our esteemed high priest.
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
Speak to him, saying, "This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'Look at the man called The BRANCH. He will rise from his roots, and he will construct the Lord's sanctuary."
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
He will construct God's sanctuary, carrying its honor. He'll reign from his throne, serving as both king and priest. Together, they'll foster harmony and peace.
And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD.
The crowns will be kept in God's holy temple as a cherished remembrance of Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen, Zephaniah's son.
And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
Those from distant lands will come to contribute to the Lord's temple, and you'll realize that it's the Lord who has sent me to you. All this will happen, only if you listen and follow God's instructions carefully.
