2 Chronicles 3, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

With a heart full of reverence, Solomon started constructing God's dwelling in Jerusalem, on Mount Moriah. This sacred site, where God had once revealed Himself to his father David, was carefully prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

2

And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

On the second day of the second month, during the fourth year of his rule, he started to construct with a heart full of hope and determination.

3

Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.

These are the guidelines Solomon followed to build God's house. The length was sixty cubits and the width was twenty cubits, according to the original measurements.

4

And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

The entrance of the house was as wide as the house itself, about 30 feet. It towered high, reaching 180 feet. Inside, it was beautifully adorned with pure gold.

5

And the greater house he cieled with fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set thereon palm trees and chains.

He adorned the grand house with the warmth of fir tree, embellishing it with delicate gold. He further enhanced its beauty with the presence of palm trees and chains.

6

And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.

He adorned the house with stunning precious stones, enhancing its beauty. The gold used was the finest from Parvaim.

7

He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.

He lovingly adorned the house, its beams, pillars, and walls, and even its doors, with pure gold. He etched angelic cherubims into the walls, infusing them with divine beauty.

8

And he made the most holy house, the length whereof was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.

He lovingly crafted the sacred sanctuary, a perfect square of twenty cubits each side. He then adorned it with exquisite gold, weighing six hundred talents, making it a sight to behold.

9

And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

The gold for the nails weighed fifty shekels. He then lovingly adorned the upper rooms with shimmering gold.

10

And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.

In the sacred heart of the temple, he crafted two golden cherubim, their beauty radiating divine love and protection.

11

And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.

The cherubim had impressively large wings, spanning twenty cubits altogether. One wing of the first cherub, measuring five cubits, touched the house wall. Similarly, its other wing, also five cubits, extended to touch the wing of the second cherub.

12

And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub.

One wing of the second cherub spanned five cubits, touching the house wall. Its other wing, also five cubits, connected with the first cherub's wing.

13

The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward.

The cherubims unfurled their wings, spanning twenty cubits. They stood on their feet, and their faces were turned inward, toward the room.

14

And he made the vail of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubims thereon.

He crafted a veil in hues of blue, purple, and crimson, from the finest linen, and lovingly embroidered angels upon it.

15

Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.

He crafted two towering pillars, each 35 cubits tall, for the front of the house. Each was crowned with a 5-cubit high capstone, adding majesty to their height.

16

And he made chains, as in the oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars; and made an hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.

With great care, he crafted chains like those in the inner sanctuary, and adorned the pillar tops with them. He then created a hundred pomegranates and delicately hung them on the chains.

17

And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

With great reverence, he erected two pillars at the temple's entrance. He named the right one Jachin, symbolizing establishment, and the left one Boaz, signifying strength.
