2 Chronicles 7, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
As Solomon finished his prayer, a divine fire descended from the heavens, engulfing the offerings in a holy blaze. The Lord's magnificent presence then filled the entire house, radiating glory.
And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’s house.
The priests were unable to step into God's home, as it was overflowing with His magnificent presence.
And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
When the people of Israel witnessed the fire descending and God's magnificent glory enveloping the temple, they were overwhelmed with awe. They fell to their knees on the hard ground, their faces pressed against the pavement in reverence. They worshipped and praised God, acknowledging His goodness and His unending mercy.
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.
With deep reverence, the king and his people presented their offerings to the LORD.
And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
King Solomon, with a heart full of devotion, offered a grand sacrifice of 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep. In this grand gesture, the king and his people collectively consecrated God's house with deep reverence and love.
And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
The priests dutifully performed their sacred duties. The Levites, too, played the Lord's music on instruments crafted by King David himself, the ones he used to praise God's everlasting mercy. Across from them the priests played trumpets, and the entire nation of Israel stood in reverence.
Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.
Solomon sanctified the courtyard before God's house. There, he made burnt offerings and peace offerings. The bronze altar he built couldn't hold all the offerings, so he used the courtyard.
Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt.
Solomon and all of Israel celebrated the feast joyfully for seven days, with a massive gathering stretching from Hamath to the river of Egypt.
And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.
On the eighth day, they gathered with deep reverence. They had spent a week dedicating the altar and another week in joyful celebration.
And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.
On the twenty-third day of the seventh month, he sent the people back to their homes. Their hearts were filled with joy and gratitude for the blessings the LORD had bestowed upon David, Solomon, and all of Israel.
Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.
With a heart full of joy and satisfaction, Solomon completed the Lord's house and his own royal palace. Every idea that sparked in his heart for these sacred spaces, he successfully brought to life.
And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
One night, God revealed Himself to Solomon, saying, "I've heard your prayer, Solomon. I've chosen this place as my sacred home, a place for offerings."
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
If I seal the sky to stop the rain, or order locusts to ravage the earth, or unleash disease among my people;
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
When my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves, pray, seek my presence, and turn from their wicked ways, I will listen from the heavens, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
Now, my eyes will truly see, and my ears will genuinely listen to the prayers spoken here.
For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
I've chosen and blessed this home, so my presence may forever reside here. My gaze and love will always be upon it.
And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;
If you choose to follow my guidance, just like your father David did, and obey all my commands and laws, then you'll be on the right path.
Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.
I promise to secure your reign, just as I vowed to your ancestor David. I assure you, there will always be a leader in Israel.
But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;
But if you turn away, abandon the laws and commands I have set before you, and choose to follow and worship other gods,
Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.
I will forcefully remove them from the land I gifted them. The sacred house I dedicated to my name will be thrown out of my sight. It will become a common joke and a symbol of disgrace among all nations.
And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
This house, now so grand, will leave everyone who passes by appalled, making them ask, "Why has God done such a thing to this land and to this house?"
And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
And the answer will be: "Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who freed them from Egypt, choosing instead to embrace and worship other gods. That is why he has brought all this disaster on them."
