2 Corinthians 13, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
For the third time, I'm coming to you. Remember, every truth needs at least two or three people to confirm it.
I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
I've warned you once, and now, even though I'm not there, I'm warning you again in writing. This goes for those who've done wrong and everyone else: If I return, there will be no mercy.
Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
You're searching for evidence of Christ's voice within me, which isn't feeble towards you, but powerful within you.
For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
Even though he was crucified in a moment of weakness, he lives on through God's strength. We too share in his weakness, but we will live with him through God's strength, shown in our dealings with you.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Reflect deeply within yourself, are you truly faithful? Validate your own beliefs. Don't you realize that Jesus Christ resides within you, unless you've strayed away?
But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
I have faith that you will realize, we are not unworthy.
Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
I sincerely hope you choose not to do wrong. It's not about us looking good, but about you acting with integrity, even if we seem unworthy.
For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
We are powerless to oppose the truth, instead, we can only support it.
For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
We rejoice in our own shortcomings when we see your strength. Our deepest desire is to see you reach your full potential.
Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
I'm writing this while I'm away, so I don't come across as harsh when I'm with you. I want to use the strength God gave me to build you up, not tear you down.
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Dear friends, goodbye. Strive for perfection, find solace, unite in thought, and dwell in harmony. The God of love and tranquility will always accompany you.
Greet one another with an holy kiss.
Show each other love and respect: greet one another with a holy kiss.
All the saints salute you.
Every saint sends their heartfelt greetings to you.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
May the kindness of Jesus, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit fill your hearts. Amen.
