2 Corinthians 4, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
Given the divine task and the mercy we've been granted, we remain steadfast and unyielding.
But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
We've let go of deceit and trickery, not twisting God's word for our own gain. Instead, we strive to live honestly and truthfully, earning respect by being true to ourselves and others, under God's watchful eyes.
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
If our good news remains unseen, it's unseen only to those who are spiritually lost.
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don't believe, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, cannot shine on them.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
We don't promote ourselves, but rather Jesus Christ as Lord. We are simply your humble servants, all for the love of Jesus.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
The same God who brought light from darkness has filled our hearts with His radiant love, so we may truly understand His divine glory through the life of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
We carry this precious gift in our humble bodies, so it's clear that its amazing power comes from God, not from us.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Though we face challenges all around, we're not crushed; we may be confused, but we never lose hope.
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Though persecuted, we are never abandoned; knocked down, but never destroyed.
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
Constantly, we carry in our bodies the dying of Jesus, so that His vibrant life may also shine through in our bodies.
For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
We who are alive constantly face death for the sake of Jesus, so that His life can be clearly seen in our human bodies.
So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
Thus, we endure death within us, so that you may experience life.
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
With a shared spirit of faith, just as it's said, 'I trusted, so I voiced it', we too trust and so we express it.
Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
Trust that the same power that resurrected Jesus will also resurrect us through Him, and we will stand together in His presence.
For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
All of this is for your sake, so that God's grace, reaching more and more people, may overflow in thanksgiving, to His glory.
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Despite our physical bodies weakening, our inner spirit grows stronger every day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
Our brief struggles, though painful, are shaping us for an everlasting, glorious reward beyond measure.
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
We don't focus on what's visible, but on what's invisible. What we see is temporary, but what we can't see lasts forever.
