2 Corinthians 9, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:
There's really no need for me to write to you about helping others, you already know it's important.
For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.
I'm well aware of your eager spirit, which I proudly share with the Macedonians, saying that you in Achaia were prepared a year ago. Your enthusiasm has inspired many others.
Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:
I've sent our brothers to you, so our pride in you won't be misplaced. As I've mentioned, I want you to be prepared.
Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.
If the Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, it would be embarrassing for us, especially after all our confident boasting.
Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
I felt it was important to urge our brothers and sisters to visit you in advance, to prepare your generous gift that you had previously promised. So it would be seen as a willing gift, not as a greedy demand.
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Simply put, if you give a little, you'll get a little in return; but if you give a lot, you'll receive a lot in return.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Give what you can, willingly and joyfully, because God appreciates those who share with a happy heart.
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
God has the power to shower you with endless blessings, ensuring you have everything you need at all times, so you can excel in every good deed.
(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
In the scriptures, it is said that he generously gave to the needy, spreading his wealth far and wide. His acts of kindness and justice will forever be remembered.
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
He who provides seeds to the farmer also gives you bread to eat, multiplies your seeds, and enhances the results of your good deeds.
Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous every time, and your generosity, carried through us, will lead many to give thanks to God.
For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
By managing this service, we're not just meeting the needs of the faithful, but also overflowing with gratitude to God.
Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
Through their experience of serving, they praise God because of your commitment to Christ's teachings and your generous sharing with them and everyone else.
And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
And in their heartfelt prayers for you, they long to be with you, because of the abundant grace God has given you.
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
Gratitude fills my heart for God's indescribable blessing.
