Ephesians 6, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Kids, listen to your parents as they guide you in faith and love, because it's the right thing to do.
Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
Respect and love your parents deeply, as this is the first rule that comes with a beautiful promise.
That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
May you find happiness and enjoy a long life on this earth.
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Dads, don't anger your kids. Instead, guide them with love and teach them about God's ways.
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and trembling, and with a sincere heart, just as you would obey Christ.
Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
Don't just act kind to impress others; instead, serve with genuine love as if you're serving Christ himself, following God's will wholeheartedly.
With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
Serve with a joyful heart, as if serving God Himself, not just people.
Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
Understand that any act of kindness you perform will be rewarded by God, regardless of your status in life.
And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
Masters, treat your slaves in the same way, fairly and kindly, without threats. Remember, you and they have the same Master in heaven, who treats everyone equally.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
My dear friends, find your strength in God, and in the immense power of His might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Clothe yourself in God's protective love, so you can resist the devil's cunning tricks.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Our real battle isn't against people, but against the unseen forces of darkness and spiritual corruption that rule this world.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Embrace God's full protection, so you can resist during dark times and remain standing after every challenge.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Stand firm then, wrapped in the truth as your strength, and protect your heart with the armor of goodness and fairness.
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Let your steps be guided by the readiness to spread the message of peace.
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Above all, hold onto your faith like a protective shield. It will help you extinguish all the harmful attacks from evil forces.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Embrace the protection of salvation like a helmet, and wield the power of God's word as if it were a mighty sword - it's the Spirit's gift to you.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Always keep your heart open in prayer, guided by the Spirit. Stay vigilant and persistent in your prayers for all the faithful.
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Pray for me, so I may find the courage to speak freely and passionately, revealing the profound truth of the Gospel.
For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
I am the gospel's ambassador, even in chains. Pray that I may speak it fearlessly, as I should.
But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
So you can understand my situation and how I'm doing, Tychicus, a dear brother and trusted servant of the Lord, will share everything with you.
Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
I've sent him to you so you can understand our situation and he can bring peace to your hearts.
Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
May all my brothers and sisters feel tranquility and love, deeply rooted in faith, bestowed upon us by our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
May those who genuinely love our Lord Jesus Christ be blessed with grace. Amen.
