Ephesians 1, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Paul, chosen by God to spread Jesus Christ's teachings, sends his greetings to the devoted followers in Ephesus and all those who remain true to Christ Jesus.
Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
May you feel the loving kindness and tranquility that comes from our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
Praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has showered us with every spiritual gift from heaven through Christ.
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Before the world began, He chose us to be pure, blameless, and full of love in His presence.
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
God, in His infinite love, chose us to become His children through Jesus Christ, delighting in this decision, as it was His heartfelt desire.
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Celebrating the magnificence of His mercy, where He has lovingly embraced us as cherished ones.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Through his sacrifice, we find salvation and forgiveness for our wrongdoings, a testament to his boundless love and grace.
Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
In His abundant love, He has showered us with wisdom and understanding.
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
He has shared with us the secret of His intentions, a plan formed from His own joy and purpose.
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
In the perfect moment of time, He plans to unite everything in heaven and on earth under Christ's loving rule.
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
We've been given a divine inheritance, predestined by the one who orchestrates everything according to his own will and wisdom.
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
So that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, would live in a way that honors and celebrates God's glory.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
You put your trust in Him after hearing the truth of His word, the good news of your salvation. Once you believed, you were marked with His holy promise, the Spirit.
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
This is the promise of our future inheritance, waiting until the day we are fully redeemed, all for the glory and praise of God.
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
Upon hearing of your unwavering faith in Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, my heart swelled with joy and admiration.
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
I never stop feeling grateful for you, always remembering you in my prayers.
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
May the God of Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, bless you with wisdom and insight, helping you truly understand Him.
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
May your mind's eye be filled with light, so you can truly grasp the hope He calls you to, and the immense beauty of the divine legacy He shares with His faithful.
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
The immense strength of His power is beyond measure, especially for us who believe. It's all due to His incredible might.
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
In an act of divine love, God breathed life back into Christ, lifting Him from death. He then honored Him, placing Him at His side in the celestial realms.
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
Surpassing all rulers, authorities, powers, and realms, and every title known, not just in our world, but also in the future.
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
He has placed everything under His control, appointing Him as the supreme leader of the church.
Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
The church is His body, the complete fullness of Him who fills everything, everywhere with His presence.
