Ezekiel 13, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Suddenly, I felt a powerful message from the Lord wash over me, whispering,
Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;
Hey, human, speak boldly against those self-proclaimed prophets of Israel. Tell them, those who prophesy from their own imaginations, to truly listen to God's word.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
The Lord God declares, "Alas for the misguided prophets who trust only their own instincts, yet have witnessed nothing!"
O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.
Oh Israel, your prophets are as cunning and elusive as desert foxes.
Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.
You haven't stepped into the breach or built a protective barrier for Israel to withstand the day of God's judgment.
They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
They've witnessed empty promises and deceitful predictions, claiming it's God's word. But God didn't send them. They've given false hope to others, assuring them of God's confirmation.
Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?
Haven't you realized that your vision is misguided, and your words are false, even though you claim they're from God? I assure you, I have not spoken them.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.
The Lord God declares, "Since you've indulged in empty talk and believed in falsehoods, I stand against you."
And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
My hand will firmly deal with those who prophesy falsehoods and deceit. They won't be counted among my people, nor will their names be recorded in Israel's history. They won't set foot in Israel's land. And you will truly understand that I am the Lord God.
Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:
Because they've misled my people with false promises of peace, when there was none. They built a wall, but others covered it with weak mortar.
Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.
Tell those who build with weak mortar, it will collapse. A torrential rain will come, and you, mighty hailstones, will fall. A fierce wind will tear it apart.
Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it?
When the wall crumbles, won't you be asked, "Where is the plaster you used to build it?"
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.
In His divine anger, the Lord God declares, "I will unleash a furious storm, a torrential downpour of my wrath, and massive hailstones in my rage, all to devour it."
So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will shatter the fragile wall you've built with weak plaster, reducing it to rubble. Its foundation will be exposed and it will collapse, engulfing you in its ruins. Then, you will truly realize that I am the Lord.
Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it;
I will unleash my anger on the wall and those who poorly built it. I will declare, "The wall and its builders are no more."
To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord GOD.
The prophets of Israel, who prophesy to Jerusalem and see visions of peace for her when there is no peace, declares the Lord God.
Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them,
Hey, human, stand firm against those women of your community who make predictions based on their own feelings. Speak out against them.
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you?
The Lord God declares, "How terrible it will be for you women who craft pillows and headscarves to ensnare souls! Do you dare to prey on my people's souls, yet promise salvation to those who seek you?"
And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?
Will you taint my image among my followers for mere crumbs of bread and grains of barley? Will you deceive them, leading the innocent to their doom and preserving the guilty, all based on your lies?
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
The Lord God declares, "I see your tricks, using comforts to trap innocent souls. I am against this. I will free these souls from your grasp, even those you've tricked into flight."
Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will rip away your false protection and free my people from your grasp. They will no longer be your prey, and you will realize that I am the Lord.
Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:
Your deceit has broken the hearts of the good, whom I never intended to hurt. You've encouraged the wicked, promising them life, preventing them from turning away from their evil paths.
Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
No longer will you see false visions or make your predictions. I will free my people from your grasp, and you will truly understand that I am the Lord.
