Ezekiel 2, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

He gently told me, "Human, rise to your feet, and I will share my words with you."

2

And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.

When He spoke to me, His spirit filled me, lifting me up and enabling me to hear His voice.

3

And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.

He told me, "Human, I'm sending you to the people of Israel. They're a stubborn lot, always rebelling against me. They and their ancestors have been defying me till this very moment."

4

For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.

These children are stubborn and defiant. I am sending you to them, and you must tell them, "This is what the Lord GOD says."

5

And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

Regardless of whether they choose to listen or stubbornly ignore, they will eventually realize that a prophet has indeed lived among them.

6

And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

Hey there, don't let their harsh words or intimidating looks scare you. Even if you're surrounded by danger and negativity, stay strong. Don't let their rebellion shake you.

7

And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

Share my message with them, regardless if they listen or ignore you, for they are highly stubborn.

8

But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

Listen closely, my child, to my words. Don't be defiant like those who resist me. Open your mouth and eat what I give you.

9

And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

When I glanced, to my surprise, a hand reached out to me, holding a scroll from a book.

10

And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

He unfolded it before my eyes; it was filled with words of sorrow, grief, and despair, both inside and out.
