Ezekiel 30, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Once more, I felt the divine whisper of the Lord speaking to me, saying,
Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Howl ye, Woe worth the day!
Human child, speak my prophecy, says the Lord God; Cry out in sorrow, Beware of the dreadful day!
For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.
The Lord's day is approaching, a day of dark clouds. It will be a time of doom for the nations.
And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down.
Egypt will be struck by disaster, causing immense suffering in Ethiopia. As lives are lost in Egypt, its people and stability will be taken away.
Ethiopia, and Libya, and Lydia, and all the mingled people, and Chub, and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.
Ethiopia, Libya, Lydia, and all the diverse nations, including Chub and the allies of the land, will tragically succumb to the sword's wrath.
Thus saith the LORD; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
God declares, those who support Egypt will stumble and fall; her arrogance and might will crumble. From the heights of Syene, they will be struck down by the sword, says the Lord.
And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.
They will lie in ruins among ruined lands, and their cities will lie waste among the ruined cities.
And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when all her helpers shall be destroyed.
When I ignite a blaze in Egypt, obliterating all her allies, they will truly realize that I am the Lord.
In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.
On that day, my messengers will sail out, striking fear into the hearts of the unsuspecting Ethiopians. They will be in anguish on the day of Egypt's doom. Indeed, it is coming.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.
The Lord God declares, "I will end Egypt's vastness through Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon."
He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.
He, along with his followers, the most feared among nations, will be summoned to devastate the land. They will unsheathe their swords against Egypt, leaving the land strewn with the fallen.
And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.
I, the Lord, promise to drain the rivers and let the wicked take over the land. I will let outsiders ruin everything in the land.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.
The Lord declares, "I will shatter the false idols and erase their images from Noph. There will be no more rulers in Egypt, and I will fill the land with fear."
And I will make Pathros desolate, and will set fire in Zoan, and will execute judgments in No.
I will leave Pathros barren, set Zoan on fire, and carry out my judgment on No.
And I will pour my fury upon Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.
I will unleash my wrath upon Sin, Egypt's stronghold, and I will eradicate the vast population of No.
And I will set fire in Egypt: Sin shall have great pain, and No shall be rent asunder, and Noph shall have distresses daily.
I will ignite a blaze in Egypt, causing Sin to endure immense suffering. No will be torn apart, and Noph will face daily hardships.
The young men of Aven and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword: and these cities shall go into captivity.
The brave youths of Aven and Pibeseth will tragically perish in battle, and their beloved cities will be taken captive.
At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be darkened, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt: and the pomp of her strength shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.
In Tehaphnehes, darkness will descend the day I break the yoke of Egypt's power. Her proud might will come to an end, and a cloud will cover her. Her daughters will be led away, captive.
Thus will I execute judgments in Egypt: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
This is how I will carry out my judgments on Egypt, and they will know that I am the Lord.
And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, in the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
On the seventh day of the first month in the eleventh year, I felt a divine message from the Lord stirring within me.
Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, lo, it shall not be bound up to be healed, to put a roller to bind it, to make it strong to hold the sword.
Human child, I have weakened the powerful Pharaoh of Egypt. His strength won't be restored, no matter what is done to heal him. He won't be able to wield a sword again.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.
The Lord God declares, "I oppose the Pharaoh of Egypt. I will shatter his strength and his brokenness. I will make him drop his sword."
And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.
I will spread the Egyptians far and wide, across all nations and lands.
And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man.
I will empower the king of Babylon, gifting him my strength and my sword. But for Pharaoh, I will weaken him, causing him to cry out in pain as if mortally wounded.
But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.
I will empower the king of Babylon, while the power of Pharaoh will crumble. They will recognize me as the Lord when I give my sword to the king of Babylon, who will then wield it over Egypt.
And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them among the countries; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will spread the Egyptians far and wide across different nations and lands. They will realize that I am their Lord.
