Ezekiel 39, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Hey, you, the human prophet, speak out against Gog. Tell him, "The Lord God says, 'Gog, I oppose you, the powerful leader of Meshech and Tubal.'"
And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
I will guide you back, leaving only a fraction of you, drawing you from the northern lands to the peaks of Israel.
And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
I will disarm you, knocking the bow from your left hand and making the arrows slip from your right.
Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
You and all your troops, and the nations with you, will fall dead on Israel's mountains. I will hand you over to all kinds of hungry birds and wild animals to be their feast.
Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
You will fall dead in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Lord God.
And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will ignite a blaze in Magog, and even among those living nonchalantly on the islands. They will then realize that I am the Lord.
So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
I will reveal my sacred name to my beloved people, Israel, and I won't allow it to be disrespected anymore. Even those who don't believe will recognize that I am the Lord, the Sacred One in Israel.
Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
Look, it has finally happened, just as the Lord God promised. Today is the day He spoke of.
And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
The people of Israel will leave their cities, they will ignite and destroy their weapons - shields, bows, arrows, staffs, and spears. They will burn them for seven long years.
So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.
They won't need to gather wood from the fields or cut it from the forests, because they'll burn the weapons for fuel. They'll plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, as the Lord God has spoken.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.
On that day, I will grant Gog a resting place in Israel, a valley east of the sea, traveled by many. This place will halt the travelers in their tracks, as they bury Gog and his many followers there. It will be known as the Valley of Hamongog.
And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
For seven long months, the people of Israel will bury the bodies of the invaders, purifying their cherished land.
Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
Indeed, everyone will lay them to rest, and this will become a day of great honor when I, the Lord God, am celebrated.
And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
Dedicated individuals will be chosen to traverse the land, their task to respectfully bury those left behind, purifying the earth. After seven months, they will continue their search.
And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.
Travelers journeying through the land, upon spotting a human bone, should mark the spot. This is to guide those who bury the dead, leading them to this place in the Valley of Hamongog.
And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.
The city will be called Hamonah, marking the purification of the land.
And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
Hey, you, child of humanity, this is what the Lord God says: Tell every bird and every animal, "Come, gather around. I'm preparing a grand feast for you on Israel's mountains. You'll feast on meat and drink blood."
Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
You will eat the flesh of mighty warriors and drink the blood of earth's leaders, as if they were rams, lambs, goats, and bulls, all the plump animals of Bashan.
And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
You will eat fat until you're full and drink blood until you're drunk, at the sacrifice I've prepared for you.
Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
The Lord God declares, "At my table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, of mighty men and warriors of every kind."
And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
I will display my majesty among the nations, and they will witness the justice I've delivered, and the actions I've taken against them.
So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.
From that day onwards, the people of Israel will truly feel and understand in their hearts that I am their Lord God.
And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
The nations will realize that Israel's people went into exile because of their own wrongdoings. They turned against me, so I turned away from them and handed them over to their foes, and they all fell by the sword.
According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
Because of their impurities and wrongdoings, I've treated them accordingly and turned away from them.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;
Thus declares the Lord God; I will now restore Jacob's freedom, show compassion to all of Israel, and fiercely protect the honor of my sacred name.
After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
Once they've felt the weight of their guilt and acknowledged all their wrongdoings against me, they'll find peace and security in their land, free from fear.
When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
When I've led them back from among the crowds, and rescued them from the lands of their foes, and made myself known through them in the eyes of numerous nations;
Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
Then they will realize that I am their God, who sent them into captivity among strangers. But I've brought them back to their homeland, leaving none behind.
Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
I will no longer turn away from them, for I have filled the people of Israel with my spirit, declares the Lord God.
