Joshua 15, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.
The tribe of Judah's territory, defined by their family lines, stretched all the way to the edge of Edom. The barren wilderness of Zin marked the furthest southern boundary.
And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:
Their southern boundary began at the edge of the salty sea, stretching from the bay that faces the south.
And it went out to the south side to Maalehacrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadeshbarnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:
It journeyed southward to the heights of Maalehacrabbim, then moved towards Zin. It climbed the southern slopes to Kadeshbarnea, continued to Hezron, ascended to Adar, and finally circled around to Karkaa.
From thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.
From there, it flowed towards Azmon, reaching the Egyptian river; its journey ended at the sea. This will be your southern border.
And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:
The eastern boundary was the salty sea, stretching all the way to Jordan's end. Their northern border started from the sea's bay, at the farthest point of Jordan.
And the border went up to Bethhogla, and passed along by the north of Betharabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:
The boundary line rose towards Bethhogla, skirting the northern edge of Betharabah. It then continued upwards to the stone marker of Bohan, Reuben's son.
And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Enshemesh, and the goings out thereof were at Enrogel:
The boundary line rose from Achor Valley towards Debir, then turned north towards Gilgal, near the southern bank of the river, close to Adummim. It continued along the waters of Enshemesh, ending at Enrogel.
And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:
The boundary line rose along Hinnom Valley, reaching the southern edge of the Jebusite city, known today as Jerusalem. It then extended to the peak of the mountain, located west of Hinnom Valley and ending at the northern tip of the giant's valley.
And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:
The boundary line began at the hilltop, stretching to the spring of Nephtoah's waters, then extended towards the cities on Mount Ephron. It continued until it reached Baalah, also known as Kirjathjearim.
And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Bethshemesh, and passed on to Timnah:
The boundary stretched from Baalah in the west to Mount Seir, skirting the edge of Mount Jearim, known as Chesalon, on the northern side. It then descended to Bethshemesh and continued towards Timnah.
And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.
The boundary stretched north towards Ekron, tracing a path to Shicron, then sweeping over Mount Baalah to end at Jabneel. The border's journey concluded at the sea.
And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.
The western boundary touched the vast ocean, its shoreline stretching out. This was the land inherited by Judah's descendants, divided among their clans.
And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.
God instructed Joshua to give Caleb, Jephunneh's son, a portion of the land belonging to the tribe of Judah. This included the city of Hebron, once ruled by Arba, the father of Anak.
And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
With determination and courage, Caleb expelled the three intimidating sons of Anak - Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.
And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher.
From there he marched against the people of Debir, a place once known as Kirjathsepher.
And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.
Caleb passionately declared, "Whoever conquers Kirjathsepher and claims it, I will reward him with my daughter Achsah's hand in marriage."
And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
Othniel, Caleb's brother and son of Kenaz, courageously claimed it. In return, he was gifted with Achsah, his daughter, as his beloved wife.
And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
As she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field. She dismounted her donkey, and Caleb, intrigued, asked her, "What do you desire?"
Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
She pleaded, "Bless me further, for you've gifted me with a southern land. Please, grant me also water springs." And so, he bestowed upon her the abundant springs from both the highlands and the lowlands.
This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.
This is the legacy passed down to Judah's tribe, as per their family lines.
And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
Despite their best efforts, the children of Judah couldn't expel the Jebusites from Jerusalem. So, they ended up living together in Jerusalem, a situation that continues to this day.
