Romans 15, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Those of us who are strong should support the weak, not just act for our own satisfaction.
Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
Let's all strive to uplift and bring joy to those around us for their betterment.
For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
Even Christ didn't live for his own pleasure. Instead, as it is written, the insults of those who insulted God fell on him.
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Everything written in the past was meant to teach us. Through enduring and finding solace in these teachings, we can find hope.
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
May the God of endurance and comfort inspire you to live in harmony with each other, following the example of Jesus Christ.
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Together, in unity of thought and speech, let's honor God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
Embrace each other with love, just as Christ warmly welcomed us, all for God's glory.
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
Jesus Christ came as a servant to the Jewish people, for the sake of God's truth, to fulfill the promises made to our ancestors.
And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
So that all people, not just Jews, may praise God for His kindness. As it is written, "That is why I will praise You among the nations and sing to Your name."
And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
He joyfully declares again, "Celebrate, all you non-Jews, together with his people."
And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
Once more, let's celebrate the Lord, all you from different nations; let's honor Him, every single one of us.
And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
Once more, Esaias prophesied, a leader will emerge from Jesse's lineage. This leader will rule over the non-Jews, and they will place their faith in him.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
May the God of optimism fill your heart with immense joy and tranquility as you trust in Him, so that your hope may overflow, empowered by the divine spirit.
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
I am fully convinced, my dear friends, that you are brimming with kindness, overflowing with wisdom, and capable of guiding each other.
Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
Dear friends, I've written to you quite directly, reminding you of the divine grace bestowed upon me by God.
That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
I am honored to serve Jesus Christ among the non-Jews, sharing God's good news like a priest, so that the non-Jews may become an offering acceptable to God, made holy by the Holy Spirit.
I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.
Through Jesus Christ, I find joy and pride in all things related to God.
For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
I wouldn't dare speak of anything except what Christ has done through me, by word and deed, to lead the Gentiles to obey God.
Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
With the strength of God's Spirit, I've passionately shared Christ's message, from Jerusalem to Illyricum, using powerful signs and miracles.
Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation:
Indeed, I have passionately endeavored to spread the good news of Christ, specifically in places where His name is unknown, to avoid merely expanding on the work already done by others.
But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.
Though it was never told to them, they will witness it; and those who never heard, will come to comprehend.
For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.
My deep longing to be with you has often been thwarted by various obstacles.
But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;
I've longed to visit you for years, but I've run out of room here. Now, my heart yearns even more to see you.
Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
Whenever I set off for Spain, I plan to visit you. I hope to see you during my trip and have you guide me on my way, provided I've had the chance to enjoy your company first.
But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
Now, I'm heading to Jerusalem, eager to serve the faithful.
For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
The generous people of Macedonia and Achaia have joyfully decided to help the less fortunate saints in Jerusalem.
It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.
They were truly happy to help, and they owed it to them. Because if the non-Jews have shared in the spiritual blessings of the believers in Jerusalem, it's only right that they should help them with material needs.
When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.
Once I've accomplished this task and delivered these blessings, I'll set off for Spain and visit you on the way.
And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
I am certain that when I arrive to meet you, I'll bring with me the abundant blessings of Christ's teachings.
Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
I implore you, my brothers and sisters, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ and out of love for the Spirit, to join me in fervent prayer to God on my behalf.
That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;
May I find freedom from those who lack faith in Judaea; and may my efforts for Jerusalem be appreciated by the devout.
That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
I long to meet you with a heart full of joy, guided by God's will, and find renewal in your company.
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
May the peaceful God be present in all your hearts. So be it.
