Romans 5, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Since we have been made right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Through faith, we've been welcomed into God's loving grace, standing firm and joyful, filled with hope for His divine glory.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
Not only that, but we find joy even in our struggles, because we understand that these hardships are what shape our patience.
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
Through enduring, we gain proven character; and with proven character, we find hope.
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Hope never lets us down; for God's love fills our hearts, gifted to us through the Holy Spirit.
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
When we were at our weakest, at just the right time, Christ gave his life for the ungodly.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
It's rare for someone to give their life for a just person, though for a truly good person, some might brave death.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God showed us His immense love by allowing Christ to die for us, even when we were still lost in our sins.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Now, having been made right by His sacrifice, we will surely be saved from God's wrath through Him.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Even when we were against Him, God forgave us because of His Son's sacrifice. Now that we're forgiven, His Son's life promises us salvation.
And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Not only that, but we also find immense joy in God, thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him, we've gratefully received forgiveness and reconciliation.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Because of one man's mistake, sin was introduced to the world, bringing death with it. This death spread to all men, as everyone has sinned.
(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Before the law existed, sin was still present. But without a law to define it, sin wasn't recognized or held accountable.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
Despite not committing the same sin as Adam, everyone from his time until Moses was under the rule of death. Adam was a symbol of someone who was yet to come.
But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
While one man's sin brought death to many, God's gift of grace, given through Jesus Christ, has brought even more blessings and life to many.
And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
The gift is not like what came from the one man's sin. The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the freely given gift, coming after many sins, makes us right with God.
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
When one man's mistake brought death into the world, it was a heavy blow. But imagine this - those who embrace the overflowing grace and the gift of righteousness, they will find life, and more so, through Jesus Christ.
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Because of one person's mistake, everyone was judged and found guilty. But in the same way, because of one person's righteousness, everyone was gifted with the chance to be justified and truly live.
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Through one man's disobedience many were made sinners, and through one man's obedience many will be made righteous.
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
The law was introduced to highlight our wrongdoings. Yet, even as our sins multiplied, God's mercy and grace overflowed even more.
That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Just as sin once ruled us, leading to death, now let God's grace guide us through righteousness to eternal life, all thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ.
