1 Chronicles 16, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.

They carried God's sacred ark and placed it in the heart of David's tent. There, they expressed their devotion and sought peace through offerings and sacrifices.

2

And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.

After David finished his sacred rituals, he lovingly blessed everyone, invoking God's name.

3

And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.

He lovingly provided each person in Israel, regardless of gender, with a comforting loaf of bread, a generous portion of meat, and a soothing flask of wine.

4

And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

He chose some Levites to serve before the Lord's ark, to celebrate Him, and to express gratitude and praise to the God of Israel.

5

Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;

Asaph, the leader, was joined by Zechariah, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obededom. Jeiel played the psalteries and harps, while Asaph passionately clashed the cymbals.

6

Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

Benaiah and Jahaziel, the devoted priests, ceaselessly played their trumpets in the presence of God's sacred covenant ark.

7

Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren.

On that day, David, filled with gratitude, first shared this heartfelt psalm with Asaph and his brothers, as a thanksgiving to the LORD.

8

Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

Express your gratitude to the Lord, reach out to Him, and share His wonderful works with everyone.

9

Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.

Pour your heart out in song to Him, let your melodies honor Him, and share stories of His amazing deeds.

10

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.

Take pride in His sacred name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord be filled with joy.

11

Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

Always search for God and His power, constantly yearn for His presence.

12

Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

Recall with awe the amazing things He's done, His miracles, and the judgments He has pronounced.

13

O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

You, descendants of Israel, His faithful servants, you, offspring of Jacob, His chosen ones, feel His love.

14

He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

Our God is the LORD, His wise decisions reach every corner of the world.

15

Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

Always remember His promise; the command He gave, meant to last for countless generations.

16

Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

Remember the sacred promise God made with Abraham, and the solemn vow He gave to Isaac.

17

And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

God has firmly established His laws with Jacob, and with Israel, He has made an unbreakable, eternal promise.

18

Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;

Promising, I will gift you the land of Canaan, your destined inheritance.

19

When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.

When you were just a handful, only a few, living as foreigners in the land.

20

And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;

As they journeyed from one country to another, from one kingdom to a different culture, their hearts were filled with anticipation and apprehension.

21

He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

He protected them fiercely, even standing up to kings for their sake.

22

Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

Do not harm those I have blessed, and protect my messengers.

23

Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

Express your joy to the Lord, everyone, everywhere; celebrate His rescue daily.

24

Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.

Share His amazing love and miracles with everyone, no matter where they're from or what they believe.

25

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.

The LORD is truly magnificent, deserving of endless praise. His power surpasses all, evoking awe and reverence.

26

For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.

Every other god people worship is just an illusion; only the LORD, our God, crafted the vast universe.

27

Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place.

In His presence, you'll find honor and magnificence; in His realm, you'll discover strength and joy.

28

Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

Show your love to God, all families of the world. Honor Him, and declare His glory and strength.

29

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Honor God with all your heart, for He is deserving of all praise. Bring your gifts to Him and stand in His presence. Adore God in the pure splendor of His sacredness.

30

Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.

Respect Him, everyone on Earth; He keeps our world steady and unshaken.

31

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.

May the skies burst with joy, and the earth echo with cheer. Let people everywhere proclaim, "God is in control!"

32

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.

Let the ocean's mighty roar echo its vastness, let the lands celebrate, filled with life and joy.

33

Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because he cometh to judge the earth.

When the Lord comes to judge the world, even the forest trees will burst into joyful song.

34

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

Express your gratitude to the Lord, for He is kind and His compassion is everlasting.

35

And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

Please, God, our Savior, rescue us. Unite us and protect us from those who don't believe. Let us express our gratitude to your sacred name and rejoice in your praise.

36

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.

Forever grateful we are to the LORD God of Israel. Everyone echoed, "Amen," and showered praises upon the LORD.

37

So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:

So he departed from the sacred ark of the Lord's covenant, leaving Asaph and his brothers to serve before it daily, as each day's duties demanded.

38

And Obededom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obededom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah to be porters:

Obededom served too, along with his 68 relatives, and Obededom, Jeduthun's son, and Hosah were chosen to serve as gatekeepers.

39

And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

Zadok, the priest, along with his fellow priests, stood in reverence before the Lord's tabernacle, perched high in the sacred place of Gibeon.

40

To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;

They were to offer burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar every morning and evening, faithfully doing all that is written in the Lord's law, just as He instructed Israel.

41

And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever;

Together with Heman and Jeduthun, and the others specifically chosen, they were to express their gratitude to the Lord, for His kindness is everlasting.

42

And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

Heman and Jeduthun joined them, their trumpets and cymbals ready to fill the air with music, using the divine instruments of God. Jeduthun's sons served as gatekeepers.

43

And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.

Everyone went back to their own homes, filled with emotions. David, too, returned home, his heart brimming with blessings for his household.
