1 Chronicles 24, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Here's how the lineage of Aaron's sons is divided: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.
Sadly, Nadab and Abihu passed away before their father, leaving no offspring. Thus, their brothers Eleazar and Ithamar took on the priestly duties.
And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.
David, with a fair and understanding heart, divided them, with Zadok from Eleazar's lineage and Ahimelech, Ithamar's descendant, according to their appointed duties in their service.
And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar, and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.
More leaders were found in Eleazar's lineage than in Ithamar's, so they were divided accordingly. Sixteen patriarchs hailed from Eleazar's family, while Ithamar's family produced eight.
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.
They were chosen by chance, each group equal to the other. The leaders of the sacred place and God's house were from Eleazar's and Ithamar's families.
And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.
Shemaiah, Nethaneel's son and a Levite scribe, passionately penned the words in the presence of the king, the nobles, Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech, Abiathar's son. All the leading priests and Levites watched as he carefully assigned one leading family to Eleazar and another to Ithamar.
Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
The first opportunity fell to Jehoiarib, while the second chance was given to Jedaiah.

The one and twentieth to Jachin, the two and twentieth to Gamul,
The 21st was given to Jachin with a sense of honor and reverence, while the 22nd was bestowed upon Gamul, filled with anticipation and respect.
The three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah.
The 23rd was given to Delaiah with love, and the 24th was bestowed upon Maaziah with joy.
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
These were their roles in serving the Lord's house, following the traditions set by their forefather Aaron, as directed by the Lord God of Israel.

Jaaziah's sons from the Merari lineage were Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri, each carrying a piece of their father's legacy.
Of Mahli came Eleazar, who had no sons.
From Mahli, Eleazar was born, a man who sadly had no sons.
Concerning Kish: the son of Kish was Jerahmeel.
About Kish: Jerahmeel was the beloved son born to Kish.
The sons also of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after the house of their fathers.
Mushi's sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. They were the descendants of the Levites, carrying the legacy of their forefathers.
These likewise cast lots over against their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites, even the principal fathers over against their younger brethren.
In the presence of King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the head priests and Levites, they too drew lots, just like their brothers, the sons of Aaron. This was done in a fair manner, even between the elder and younger siblings.
