1 Chronicles 22, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
With awe in his voice, David declared, "This is God's sacred home, and here, Israel offers their sacrifices."
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
David passionately ordered the foreigners in Israel to unite. He assigned stonecutters to meticulously shape stones, laying the foundation for God's sacred home.
And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight;
With great care and dedication, David gathered a vast amount of iron for the nails needed for the gate doors and their fittings. He also amassed an immeasurable amount of brass, showing his commitment and love for his task.
Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.
David was overwhelmed with gratitude as the people of Tyre and Zidon generously gifted him with an abundance of cedar wood, their kindness filling the air with the rich scent of cedar.
And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.
David expressed, "My son Solomon is still young and inexperienced. The house to be built for the Lord should be grand, renowned, and glorious across all nations. So, I will start preparing for it now." Thus, David made extensive preparations before his death.
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
He summoned his son Solomon, passionately urging him to construct a sacred home for the Lord God of Israel.
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
David told Solomon, "My dear son, I had a heartfelt desire to build a home in honor of our Lord God."
But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
The Lord's message came to me, filled with sorrow, "You've caused much bloodshed and waged massive wars. You can't build a home in my honor, for you've spilled too much blood under my watchful eyes."
Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
Look, you will have a son, a peaceful man. I'll protect him from all his enemies. His name will be Solomon. During his time, I'll bring peace and tranquility to Israel.
He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
He will construct a home in my honor, becoming my cherished son as I become his loving father. I will eternally secure his reign over Israel.
Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.
My dear child, may God's presence be with you. May you thrive and successfully build God's house, just as He has promised you.
Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
May the Lord bless you with wisdom and insight, entrusting you with the care of Israel. May you faithfully follow God's laws.
Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.
You'll thrive if you follow the rules and judgments God gave Moses for Israel. Be brave, stay positive; don't let fear or discouragement get to you.
Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.
In my distress, I've gathered for God's house a vast amount of gold and an even greater amount of silver. I've also collected countless amounts of brass and iron, along with timber and stone. Feel free to add more if you wish.
Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.
You have plenty of skilled workers at your disposal - stonecutters, carpenters, and experts in every field.
Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with thee.
There's an endless amount of gold, silver, brass, and iron. So, get up, start working, and know that God is with you.
David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
David passionately urged all the leaders of Israel to support his son Solomon, saying,
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
Isn't God always by your side? Hasn't He granted you peace from enemies on every side? He has handed over the land and its people to us, and they now bow before God and His people.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Devote your heart and soul to seeking God; get up and build a sacred place for Him. Bring the ark of the Lord's covenant and God's holy items into this house, built in His honor.
