Deuteronomy 10, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
During that moment, God instructed me, "Carve two stone tablets similar to the first ones, climb up the mountain to meet me, and craft a wooden ark."
And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
I will write on these tablets the same words that were on the first tablets, the ones you broke, and you must place them safely in the chest.
And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
With great care, I crafted a sacred ark from shittim wood. I chiseled two stone tablets, identical to the first pair, and climbed the mountain, holding these tablets close to my heart.
And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
He etched onto the tablets, just as before, the ten rules that God had shared with you on the mountain, amidst the fiery spectacle on the day of gathering. And God handed them to me.
And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.
Then I came back down the mountain and placed the tablets into the ark I had made. Just as the LORD had instructed, there they remain.
And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest’s office in his stead.
The people of Israel moved from Beeroth, Jaakan's land, to Mosera. It was here that Aaron breathed his last, and was laid to rest. His son, Eleazar, took over his father's priestly duties with a heavy heart.
From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.
They traveled from one place to another, from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land blessed with abundant waterways.
At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
During that period, God chose the Levi tribe, entrusting them with His sacred covenant's ark. They were to serve Him, stand in His presence, and bless others in His name - a duty they continue to fulfill to this day.
Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.
Levi doesn't share physical inheritance with his siblings; instead, his true wealth is the Lord, as God Himself promised.
And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.
I spent forty days and nights on the mountain, just like before. Once again God listened to me, and He agreed not to destroy you.
And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.
The Lord passionately urged me, "Get up, lead the people on their journey. Let them enter and claim the land I promised their ancestors as their own."
And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Now, Israel, what does your God ask of you? Only this: to respect Him, follow His path, love Him, and serve Him with all your heart and soul.
To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Devotedly follow God's rules and guidelines, which I share with you today, for they are for your own benefit.
Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
Look around you, every bit of the sky, the stars, and even the earth beneath your feet, everything belongs to your God.
Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.
God deeply loved your ancestors, finding joy in them. He chose you, their descendants, to be His special people, just as it is today.
Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
Open your heart fully, let go of your stubbornness, and embrace change.
For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
Your God is the ultimate, the greatest of all, powerful and awe-inspiring. He doesn't play favorites or accept bribes.
He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.
He ensures justice for orphans and widows, shows love to foreigners by providing them with food and clothing.
Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Show kindness to outsiders, remember you were once outsiders too in Egypt.
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.
Respect and love God deeply; dedicate your life to serving Him. Stay close to Him and honor His name with your promises.
He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
He is your joy, your God, who has performed these incredible and awe-inspiring acts that you've witnessed.
Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude.
Your ancestors, numbering just seventy, journeyed to Egypt. But now, the Lord your God has multiplied you, making you as countless as the stars in the sky.
