Deuteronomy 11, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
Always love and honor God, follow His teachings, respect His laws, and obey His commands with all your heart.
And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
Understand this today: I'm not speaking to your innocent children who haven't experienced God's discipline, or witnessed His immense power and far-reaching influence.
And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
He performed awe-inspiring miracles and acts right in the heart of Egypt, astonishing Pharaoh, the king, and everyone in his kingdom.
And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;
Remember how He crushed the Egyptian forces, their horses, and chariots. How He unleashed the Red Sea's waters upon them as they chased you, and how God destroyed them for good, as you can see to this day.
And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;
Remember how he cared for you during your struggles in the wilderness, before you arrived here.
And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
Remember how he dealt with Dathan and Abiram, Eliab's sons from the Reuben tribe? The earth itself opened up and devoured them, their families, their homes, and all they owned, right in front of all Israel.
But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.
You've witnessed the incredible miracles performed by the Lord with your own eyes.
Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
Remember to follow all the rules I've given you today. This will make you strong and capable of claiming the land you're destined to own.
And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
So you can enjoy a long life in the beautiful land promised by God to your ancestors, a land abundant with richness and sweetness.
For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
The land you're about to claim isn't like Egypt, the place you left. There, you planted seeds and watered them like a herb garden. This new land is different.
But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
The place you're headed to claim as your own is a land of majestic hills and deep valleys, quenched by the heavenly rain.
A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
God deeply loves this land, His gaze never leaves it, from the start of the year to its end.
And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
If you truly listen and follow God's commands today, loving and serving Him with all your heart and soul, great things will happen.
That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
I promise to bless you with timely rains, both early and late, so you can harvest your grains, grapes for wine, and olives for oil.
And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
I will bless your fields with lush grass for your livestock, so you may feast and feel content.
Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
Be careful, don't let your heart be fooled into following and worshipping false gods.
And then the LORD’s wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
Then the Lord's anger will flare up against you. He will close the heavens, stopping the rain and causing the earth to withhold its bounty, and you will swiftly perish from the good land He is giving you.
Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
Hold my words close to your heart and soul, let them guide your actions and thoughts, like a constant reminder in your sight.
And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Instill these teachings in your children's hearts. Talk about them at home, on your journeys, at bedtime, and as you start each day.
And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
You should inscribe these words deeply in your home and on your gates.
That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
May your life and your children's lives be long and blessed in the land promised by God, as endless as heavenly days on earth.
For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
If you passionately follow all the rules I've given you, showing your love for God by living as He would and staying close to Him, you'll be blessed.
Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
Then the Lord will drive out all these nations ahead of you, and you will take over nations greater and stronger than you are.
Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
Every step you take, every land you touch, from the barren desert to the lush Lebanon, from the Euphrates River to the farthest sea, will be yours.
There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
No one will be able to stand against you, for God will fill every land you set foot on with fear and dread of you, just as He promised.
Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
Look, today I am setting before you both a blessing and a curse;
A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
A divine reward awaits you if you follow God's instructions that I share with you today.
And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
And a curse if you choose not to follow God's commands and turn away from the path I'm giving you today to pursue gods you have never known.
And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
When God finally leads you to the land you're destined to own, you are to proclaim the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.
Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
Aren't they just across the Jordan River, where the sun sets, in the Canaanite land near Gilgal, next to the Moreh plains?
For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
You'll cross the Jordan River to claim the land God has gifted you. Live there and make it your own.
And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
Today, passionately embrace and follow all the rules and decisions I've laid out for you.
