Deuteronomy 27, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.
Moses, along with Israel's elders, passionately urged the people, "Please, faithfully follow all the commands I'm giving you today."
And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:
The day you cross the Jordan River into the land God has promised you, you'll erect large stones and cover them with plaster.
And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
Write all the words of this law on those stones once you've crossed over into the land gifted to you by God, a land abundant with blessings, just as He promised your ancestors.
Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.
Once you cross the Jordan River, follow my command and set up these stones on Mount Ebal. Cover them with plaster as a symbol of your commitment and obedience.
And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
In that sacred place, construct a stone altar to honor your God, the LORD. Remember, don't use any metal tools on these stones.
Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:
Devote yourself to creating a sacred space for God, using unbroken stones. In this special place, present your sacrifices to Him with a sincere heart.
And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.
Present your offerings of peace, feast joyfully, and celebrate in the presence of your God.
And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
You should etch the laws deeply and clearly into the stones, with all your heart.
And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
Moses and the priests passionately addressed all of Israel, "Listen carefully, Israel, today you have become God's chosen people."
Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
Listen closely to God's voice, follow His rules and commands that I share with you today.
And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
On that day, Moses passionately urged the people, saying,
These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
When you cross the Jordan, these tribes are to stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
And these tribes will stand on Mount Ebal to pronounce the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
