Exodus 29, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
And this is the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest’s office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish,
This is what you must do to make them holy, to serve me as priests: Choose a young bull and two flawless rams.
And unleavened bread, and cakes unleavened tempered with oil, and wafers unleavened anointed with oil: of wheaten flour shalt thou make them.
Make simple bread without yeast, mix it with oil to create cakes, and oil-coated thin crisps. All should be made from wheat flour.
And thou shalt put them into one basket, and bring them in the basket, with the bullock and the two rams.
Gather them all lovingly into a single basket, and carry them along with the young bull and the pair of rams.
And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water.
You must guide Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the sacred tent, cleansing them with water.
And thou shalt take the garments, and put upon Aaron the coat, and the robe of the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with the curious girdle of the ephod:
Dress Aaron in the special garments - the coat, the ephod robe, the ephod itself, and the breastplate. Secure them with the intricately woven belt of the ephod.
And thou shalt put the mitre upon his head, and put the holy crown upon the mitre.
Gently place the sacred hat on his head, then crown it with the holy diadem.
Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him.
Then, with love and reverence, you shall gently pour the sacred oil over his head, blessing him with its touch.
And thou shalt bring his sons, and put coats upon them.
You shall guide his sons, gently dressing them in their coats.
And thou shalt gird them with girdles, Aaron and his sons, and put the bonnets on them: and the priest’s office shall be theirs for a perpetual statute: and thou shalt consecrate Aaron and his sons.
Dress Aaron and his sons with sashes, place caps on their heads. They are forever ordained as priests. You must set them apart, dedicating them to their sacred duties.
And thou shalt cause a bullock to be brought before the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the bullock.
Bring a bull to the community's sacred tent. Aaron and his sons will then lovingly place their hands on the bull's head.
And thou shalt kill the bullock before the LORD, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
With reverence, take the life of the bull in the presence of the Lord, right at the entrance of the communal tent.
And thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put it upon the horns of the altar with thy finger, and pour all the blood beside the bottom of the altar.
With reverence, you shall take the bull's lifeblood, gently anoint the altar's horns with your finger, and let the remaining blood flow freely at the altar's base.
And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul that is above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and burn them upon the altar.
Take all the inner fat, the membrane over the liver, the two kidneys and their fat, and burn them on the altar as a sacred offering.
But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering.
You must burn the body, skin, and waste of the bull outside the camp as a symbol of atonement for sin.
Thou shalt also take one ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram.
You should also bring a ram. Aaron and his sons will then gently lay their hands on the ram's head, feeling its warmth and life beneath their palms.
And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take his blood, and sprinkle it round about upon the altar.
You must end the ram's life, collect its blood, and gently scatter it around the altar.
And thou shalt cut the ram in pieces, and wash the inwards of him, and his legs, and put them unto his pieces, and unto his head.
You must carefully divide the ram into sections, cleanse its inner parts and legs, then place them with the rest of its body and head.
And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the LORD: it is a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
With all your heart, set the entire ram ablaze on the altar. This is your fiery gift to the Lord, a pleasing aroma, a heartfelt sacrifice to Him.
And thou shalt take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram.
You shall bring forth the second ram. Aaron and his sons will then lay their hands on its head, feeling its warmth and life beneath their palms.
Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
Then, you must end the ram's life. Collect its blood and gently dab it on Aaron's right ear and his sons' too. Also, mark their right thumb and the big toe of their right foot. Finally, scatter the blood around the altar.
And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.
Take the blood from the altar and the sacred oil, and gently sprinkle it on Aaron, his clothes, and his sons. Also, sprinkle it on their clothes. This act will sanctify Aaron, his attire, his sons, and their attire.
Also thou shalt take of the ram the fat and the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and the right shoulder; for it is a ram of consecration:
You must also take the ram's rich fat, its tail, the fat covering its organs, the fatty membrane over the liver, both kidneys with their fat, and the right shoulder. This is a special ram dedicated for sacred purposes.
And one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer out of the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the LORD:
A single loaf of bread, a cake glazed with oil, and a wafer from the basket of pure, unleavened bread that sits in the presence of the Lord.
And thou shalt put all in the hands of Aaron, and in the hands of his sons; and shalt wave them for a wave offering before the LORD.
Place everything into Aaron's hands and his sons' hands. Then, present them as an offering to the Lord with a heartfelt wave.
And thou shalt receive them of their hands, and burn them upon the altar for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour before the LORD: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Accept their offerings with grace, and set them ablaze on the altar. Let the aroma please the Lord, for it is a fiery gift given to Him.
And thou shalt take the breast of the ram of Aaron’s consecration, and wave it for a wave offering before the LORD: and it shall be thy part.
Take the chest part of Aaron's sacred ram, present it to the Lord with a heartfelt gesture. This will be your share.
And thou shalt sanctify the breast of the wave offering, and the shoulder of the heave offering, which is waved, and which is heaved up, of the ram of the consecration, even of that which is for Aaron, and of that which is for his sons:
Honor and set apart the chest and shoulder of the offering, lifted high in dedication from the consecrated ram. This is for Aaron and his sons, a sacred act of devotion.
And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’ by a statute for ever from the children of Israel: for it is an heave offering: and it shall be an heave offering from the children of Israel of the sacrifice of their peace offerings, even their heave offering unto the LORD.
Aaron and his sons are forever entitled to this gift from the people of Israel. It's a special offering, a symbol of their peace and devotion to the Lord.
And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be anointed therein, and to be consecrated in them.
Aaron's sacred clothes will be passed down to his sons, who will be blessed and dedicated in them.
And that son that is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days, when he cometh into the tabernacle of the congregation to minister in the holy place.
The son who follows his father's footsteps as a priest will wear these garments for seven days. He will put them on when he enters the sacred tent to serve in the holy place, filled with reverence and devotion.
And thou shalt take the ram of the consecration, and seethe his flesh in the holy place.
You must take the sacred ram, and gently cook its meat in the holy sanctuary.
And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Aaron and his sons will share the ram's meat and the bread kept near the gathering tent's entrance, savoring each bite with gratitude and reverence.
And they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them: but a stranger shall not eat thereof, because they are holy.
They will consume what was used for their redemption, to purify and bless them. But outsiders cannot partake, for these things are sacred.
And if ought of the flesh of the consecrations, or of the bread, remain unto the morning, then thou shalt burn the remainder with fire: it shall not be eaten, because it is holy.
If any part of the sacred meat or bread is left until morning, you must burn it. It must not be eaten because it is sacred.
And thus shalt thou do unto Aaron, and to his sons, according to all things which I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them.
You must guide Aaron and his sons, following all the instructions I've given you. Dedicate seven days to make them holy.
And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it, and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.
Every day, present a bull as a sin offering for forgiveness. Cleanse the altar after seeking forgiveness and anoint it to make it sacred.
Seven days thou shalt make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it; and it shall be an altar most holy: whatsoever toucheth the altar shall be holy.
For a week, seek forgiveness and bless the altar, making it sacred. Anything that comes into contact with this holy altar will be sanctified.
Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually.
Every day, without fail, present two young lambs as an offering on the altar.
The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even:
You should present one lamb as an offering in the fresh light of morning, and the second lamb as the day fades into evening.
And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.
With each lamb, offer a small portion of flour mixed with a little oil, and a bit of wine as a drink offering.
And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Offer the second lamb in the evening, just as you did with the morning's food and drink offerings. This is a pleasing, fiery sacrifice to the Lord.
This shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD: where I will meet you, to speak there unto thee.
This will be an everlasting sacrifice, generation after generation, at the entrance of our sacred gathering place before God. This is where I will meet you, to have our heartfelt conversations.
And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.
There, I will unite with Israel's children, and my glory will make the sanctuary pure.
And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest’s office.
I will bless the meeting place and the altar with sacredness. I will also bestow holiness upon Aaron and his sons, enabling them to serve me as priests.
And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.
I will live among the people of Israel, becoming their cherished God.
And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.
They will realize that I, their God, freed them from Egypt's chains, so I could live among them. I am their God.
