Exodus 37, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

And Bezaleel made the ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half was the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it:

Bezaleel, with great care and devotion, crafted the sacred ark from shittim wood. It was modest in size, two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide and high.

2

And he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown of gold to it round about.

He lovingly adorned it, inside and out, with pure gold, and crafted a golden crown encircling it.

3

And he cast for it four rings of gold, to be set by the four corners of it; even two rings upon the one side of it, and two rings upon the other side of it.

He lovingly crafted four golden rings, placing them carefully at each corner; two on one side, two on the other.

4

And he made staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold.

He crafted rods from acacia wood, and lovingly adorned them with gold.

5

And he put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, to bear the ark.

He gently slid the poles through the rings on the sides of the sacred chest, preparing to carry it.

6

And he made the mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half was the length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof.

He crafted the seat of mercy from pure gold, its length reaching two and a half cubits, and its width, one and a half.

7

And he made two cherubims of gold, beaten out of one piece made he them, on the two ends of the mercy seat;

With great care, he crafted two golden cherubims from a single piece of gold, placing them lovingly at both ends of the mercy seat.

8

One cherub on the end on this side, and another cherub on the other end on that side: out of the mercy seat made he the cherubims on the two ends thereof.

On one end, a cherub stood, and on the opposite end, another. From the seat of mercy, he crafted these angelic figures at both ends.

9

And the cherubims spread out their wings on high, and covered with their wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.

The angelic cherubs unfurled their wings high, shielding the mercy seat with a gentle cover. Their faces turned towards each other, all focused on the mercy seat, radiating a sense of profound reverence and devotion.

10

And he made the table of shittim wood: two cubits was the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof:

He crafted a table from the sacred shittim wood. It was two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half tall.

11

And he overlaid it with pure gold, and made thereunto a crown of gold round about.

He lovingly adorned it with the purest gold, crafting a golden crown that encircled it beautifully.

12

Also he made thereunto a border of an handbreadth round about; and made a crown of gold for the border thereof round about.

He also crafted a hand-width border around it and adorned it with a golden crown, encircling the edge.

13

And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings upon the four corners that were in the four feet thereof.

He crafted four golden rings and placed them on the four corners of its four feet, with great care and precision.

14

Over against the border were the rings, the places for the staves to bear the table.

Across the boundary, the rings were positioned, ready to support the table with their sturdy rods.

15

And he made the staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold, to bear the table.

He crafted sturdy poles from acacia wood, then cloaked them in gold, to support the sacred table.

16

And he made the vessels which were upon the table, his dishes, and his spoons, and his bowls, and his covers to cover withal, of pure gold.

He crafted the table's utensils, plates, spoons, bowls, and lids, all from pure, gleaming gold.

17

And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the candlestick; his shaft, and his branch, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, were of the same:

With great care and reverence, he crafted a beautiful candlestick from pure gold. Every detail - the stem, the branches, the bowls, the knobs, and the flowers - all were meticulously shaped from the same precious metal.

18

And six branches going out of the sides thereof; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side thereof:

From its sides, six branches emerged; three candlestick branches from one side, and three from the other.

19

Three bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a knop and a flower; and three bowls made like almonds in another branch, a knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the candlestick.

In one branch, three bowls were crafted, each resembling almonds, adorned with a knob and a flower. Similarly, in another branch, three more almond-like bowls were made, each with a knob and a flower. This pattern was repeated across all six branches of the candlestick.

20

And in the candlestick were four bowls made like almonds, his knops, and his flowers:

Within the candlestick, four bowls were crafted, resembling almonds, complete with their buds and blossoms.

21

And a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches going out of it.

Beneath each pair of branches, a bud bloomed, repeating itself three times, mirroring the six branches that sprouted from it.

22

Their knops and their branches were of the same: all of it was one beaten work of pure gold.

The buds and branches were identical, all crafted from a single piece of pure gold, hammered and shaped with care.

23

And he made his seven lamps, and his snuffers, and his snuffdishes, of pure gold.

With great reverence, he crafted his seven radiant lamps, his wick trimmers, and their trays, all from the purest of gold.

24

Of a talent of pure gold made he it, and all the vessels thereof.

He crafted it from a wealth of pure gold, along with all its accompanying pieces.

25

And he made the incense altar of shittim wood: the length of it was a cubit, and the breadth of it a cubit; it was foursquare; and two cubits was the height of it; the horns thereof were of the same.

He crafted a sacred altar from the resilient shittim wood. It was a perfect square, each side measuring a cubit, standing two cubits tall. Its horns, too, were carved from the same sturdy wood.

26

And he overlaid it with pure gold, both the top of it, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns of it: also he made unto it a crown of gold round about.

He lovingly adorned it with pure gold, covering its top, its sides, and its horns. He even crafted a golden crown encircling it.

27

And he made two rings of gold for it under the crown thereof, by the two corners of it, upon the two sides thereof, to be places for the staves to bear it withal.

He crafted two golden rings beneath its crown, at its corners, on both sides. These were designed to hold the poles used to carry it.

28

And he made the staves of shittim wood, and overlaid them with gold.

He crafted the rods from sacred acacia wood, then lovingly adorned them with a layer of pure gold.

29

And he made the holy anointing oil, and the pure incense of sweet spices, according to the work of the apothecary.

He lovingly crafted the sacred anointing oil and the pure, sweet-smelling incense, with the skill of a master perfumer.
