Revelation 11, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
An angel gave me a rod-like reed and commanded, "Stand up, measure God's temple, its altar, and its worshippers."
But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
Ignore the outer court of the temple, don't bother measuring it; it has been given over to the nations. They will trample the sacred city for forty-two months.
And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
I will empower my two witnesses, and they will speak God's message for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth.
These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands, standing before the God of the earth.
And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
If anyone dares to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and consumes their foes. Anyone who attempts to harm them must be killed in this way.
These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
They hold the power to halt the heavens, stopping the rain during their prophetic times. They can command the waters to become blood and unleash any disaster upon the earth whenever they choose.
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Once they've shared their message, a monstrous creature will rise from the abyss to challenge and defeat them, ultimately taking their lives.
And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
In the heart of the grand city, their lifeless bodies will rest, a place symbolically known as Sodom and Egypt, where even our Lord suffered His crucifixion.
And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
People from all walks of life, speaking different languages and from various nations, will stare at the two witnesses' lifeless bodies for three and a half days, and they will not allow them to be buried.
And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Those living on earth will celebrate and exchange gifts, relieved and joyful, as the two prophets who troubled them are no more.
And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
After three and a half days, God's life-giving spirit filled them, and they rose to their feet. Those who witnessed this were consumed by overwhelming fear.
And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
A powerful voice from the heavens called out to them, "Join me here." They rose into the sky, shrouded in a cloud, as their foes watched in awe.
And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
In that very moment, a massive earthquake shook the city, causing a tenth of it to crumble. Seven thousand lives were tragically lost. The survivors, filled with fear, turned to praise the God of heaven.
The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
The second woe has passed, yet brace yourself, for the third woe approaches swiftly.
And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
The seventh angel blew his trumpet, and powerful voices echoed from the heavens, declaring, "The world's kingdoms now belong to our Lord and his Messiah; he will reign forever and ever."
And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
The twenty-four elders, seated in God's presence, were overcome with awe. They bowed deeply, their faces touching the ground, in profound reverence and worship of God.
Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
With heartfelt gratitude, we thank you, O LORD God Almighty, who is, and was, and is to come, because you have taken your great power and begun to reign.
And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
The nations raged, but now your wrath has come. It is time for the dead to be judged, and for you to reward your faithful servants the prophets, your holy people, and all who fear your name, whatever their status, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.
And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
God's heavenly sanctuary was unveiled, revealing His sacred promise symbolized by the ark. This divine revelation was accompanied by flashes of lightning, resonating voices, rumbling thunder, a shaking earth, and a downpour of massive hailstones.
