Revelation 4, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
Then I saw it - a heavenly door flung wide open. The first sound I heard was like a trumpet, speaking directly to me, inviting me, "Come, ascend, and I will reveal the mysteries of the future to you."
And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
At once, I was in the Spirit. I saw a majestic throne in the heavens, with someone seated upon it.
And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
The one seated appeared as radiant as a jasper and a sardius gem. A vibrant rainbow, reminiscent of an emerald, encircled the throne.
And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Surrounding the majestic throne, I saw twenty-four seats. On each seat sat an elder, dressed in pure white, their heads adorned with golden crowns.
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
From the divine seat, flashes of lightning and roars of thunder echoed, along with mysterious voices. Before this majestic throne, seven fiery lamps blazed brightly, symbolizing the seven Spirits of God.
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
In front of the majestic throne, there was a breathtakingly clear, glass-like sea, as pure as crystal. Amidst and surrounding the throne, four mysterious creatures, covered with eyes front and back, were present.
And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
The first creature was fierce like a lion, the second gentle as a calf. The third had a human face, while the fourth soared like an eagle.
And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
The four creatures, each with six wings and covered in eyes, never stopped, day or night, in their ceaseless praise. They cried out, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was, who is, and who is yet to come."
And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
When the creatures honor and thank the eternal one seated on the throne, their gratitude and reverence fill the air.
The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
The twenty-four elders humbly kneel before the one seated on the throne, adoring him who lives eternally. They lay their crowns at the throne's foot, expressing their reverence.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
You are worthy, Lord, to receive glory, honor and power, for you've created everything, and by your will they exist and were made.
