Leviticus 12, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
The Lord passionately communicated with Moses, expressing,
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean.
Tell the people of Israel, if a woman gives birth to a boy, she will be considered impure for seven days, just as she is during her monthly cycle.
And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
On the eighth day, his body will undergo the sacred ritual of circumcision.
And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled.
She must spend 33 days in cleansing, during this time she must not touch anything sacred or enter the sanctuary until her purification period is complete.
But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days.
If she gives birth to a baby girl, she'll be considered impure for two weeks, just like during her monthly cycle. Then, she'll spend another 66 days in a state of purification.
And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:
Once her days of cleansing after childbirth are complete, whether she's had a boy or a girl, she must present a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or turtledove as a sin offering to the priest at the entrance of the sacred tent.
Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female.
The priest will present it to God and seek forgiveness for her, and she will be purified from her flow of blood. This is the rule for a woman who has given birth to a boy or a girl.
And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
If she can't afford a lamb, she may bring two doves or two young pigeons. One will be for a burnt offering, the other for a sin offering. The priest will pray for her forgiveness, and she will be purified.
