Leviticus 8, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

The Lord passionately communicated with Moses, expressing,

2

Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and a bullock for the sin offering, and two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread;

Bring Aaron and his sons, along with their sacred robes, the anointing oil, a bull for the sin offering, two rams, and a basket of bread without yeast.

3

And gather thou all the congregation together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Call everyone together at the entrance of the meeting tent.

4

And Moses did as the LORD commanded him; and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

With a heart full of obedience, Moses followed God's instructions. Everyone came together, their hearts drawn to the entrance of the meeting tent.

5

And Moses said unto the congregation, This is the thing which the LORD commanded to be done.

With a passionate voice, Moses addressed the crowd, "This is what the LORD has passionately instructed us to do."

6

And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water.

With a heart full of reverence, Moses gently led Aaron and his sons, cleansing them with pure water.

7

And he put upon him the coat, and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod upon him, and he girded him with the curious girdle of the ephod, and bound it unto him therewith.

He lovingly dressed him in the coat, fastened the belt around him, draped him in the robe, and adorned him with the ephod. He secured it all with the intricately designed belt of the ephod.

8

And he put the breastplate upon him: also he put in the breastplate the Urim and the Thummim.

He lovingly adorned him with the breastplate, carefully placing within it the sacred Urim and Thummim.

9

And he put the mitre upon his head; also upon the mitre, even upon his forefront, did he put the golden plate, the holy crown; as the LORD commanded Moses.

He gently placed the sacred headpiece on his head, and on its front, he affixed the golden emblem, the divine crown, following God's instructions given to Moses.

10

And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein, and sanctified them.

Moses, with deep reverence, gently applied the sacred oil to the tabernacle and everything within, blessing and purifying them all.

11

And he sprinkled thereof upon the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all his vessels, both the laver and his foot, to sanctify them.

With a heart full of reverence, he sprinkled the altar seven times. He then lovingly anointed the altar and all its tools, including the basin and its base, to bless and purify them.

12

And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.

He lovingly drizzled the sacred oil on Aaron's head, blessing and purifying him with deep reverence.

13

And Moses brought Aaron’s sons, and put coats upon them, and girded them with girdles, and put bonnets upon them; as the LORD commanded Moses.

Moses lovingly dressed Aaron's sons in coats, fastened them with belts, and adorned them with hats, faithfully following God's instructions.

14

And he brought the bullock for the sin offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the bullock for the sin offering.

He presented the bull for the sin offering. Aaron and his sons emotionally placed their hands on the bull's head, acknowledging it as their sin offering.

15

And he slew it; and Moses took the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured the blood at the bottom of the altar, and sanctified it, to make reconciliation upon it.

Moses, with a heavy heart, ended its life. He collected the blood, gently smearing it on the altar's corners. He cleansed the altar, letting the blood trickle down its base, sanctifying it. All this, to seek peace and reconciliation.

16

And he took all the fat that was upon the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and Moses burned it upon the altar.

Moses carefully removed all the internal fat, the covering of the liver, and the kidneys with their fat. With reverence, he burned them on the altar.

17

But the bullock, and his hide, his flesh, and his dung, he burnt with fire without the camp; as the LORD commanded Moses.

As per God's instructions to Moses, the entire bull - its skin, meat, and even its waste - was burned outside the camp in a solemn, fiery ritual.

18

And he brought the ram for the burnt offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.

He presented the ram for the sacred offering. Aaron and his sons, with deep reverence, gently placed their hands on the ram's head.

19

And he killed it; and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.

With a heavy heart, he took its life; Moses, with reverence, scattered the blood around the altar.

20

And he cut the ram into pieces; and Moses burnt the head, and the pieces, and the fat.

Moses, with a heavy heart, divided the ram. He then set the head, the pieces, and the fat ablaze.

21

And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

Moses, with reverence, cleansed the inner parts and legs of the ram in water. Then, he offered the entire ram as a burnt sacrifice on the altar. This act, a pleasing aroma, was a fiery offering to the Lord, just as He had instructed Moses.

22

And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.

He presented the second ram, the ram of dedication. Aaron and his sons gently placed their hands on the ram's head, their hearts heavy with reverence.

23

And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron’s right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot.

He killed it. Moses then took its blood and gently placed it on Aaron's right ear, right thumb, and right big toe.

24

And he brought Aaron’s sons, and Moses put of the blood upon the tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.

Moses lovingly guided Aaron's sons, gently dabbing blood on their right ears, thumbs, and big toes. Then, with reverence, he sprinkled the blood around the altar.

25

And he took the fat, and the rump, and all the fat that was upon the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and the right shoulder:

He carefully gathered the rich fat, the hindquarters, all the internal fat, the membrane over the liver, the two kidneys with their fat, and the right shoulder, with a sense of reverence and purpose.

26

And out of the basket of unleavened bread, that was before the LORD, he took one unleavened cake, and a cake of oiled bread, and one wafer, and put them on the fat, and upon the right shoulder:

From the sacred basket before God, he carefully selected a simple, unleavened loaf, a richly oiled bread, and a delicate wafer. With reverence, he placed them atop the offering and on the right shoulder.

27

And he put all upon Aaron’s hands, and upon his sons’ hands, and waved them for a wave offering before the LORD.

He entrusted everything to Aaron and his sons, presenting them as a heartfelt offering to the Lord.

28

And Moses took them from off their hands, and burnt them on the altar upon the burnt offering: they were consecrations for a sweet savour: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

Moses gently removed the offerings from their hands, placing them on the altar atop the burning sacrifice. These were sacred gifts, their sweet aroma rising in the air, a fiery tribute to the Lord.

29

And Moses took the breast, and waved it for a wave offering before the LORD: for of the ram of consecration it was Moses’ part; as the LORD commanded Moses.

Moses, with deep reverence, lifted up the breast of the ram and waved it as a sacred offering to the Lord. It was Moses' own share of the ram of consecration, as God had instructed him.

30

And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood which was upon the altar, and sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons’ garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.

With deep reverence, Moses took the sacred oil and the blood from the altar. He gently sprinkled it on Aaron, his clothes, and his sons, including their attire. In this profound moment, he blessed and sanctified Aaron, his sons, and all that they wore.

31

And Moses said unto Aaron and to his sons, Boil the flesh at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and there eat it with the bread that is in the basket of consecrations, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it.

Moses instructed Aaron and his sons with urgency, "Cook the meat right at the entrance of the meeting tent. Enjoy it there with the sacred bread from the consecration basket, just as I've directed. This meal is meant for you, Aaron and your sons."

32

And that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread shall ye burn with fire.

Any leftover meat or bread should be passionately consumed by flames.

33

And ye shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation in seven days, until the days of your consecration be at an end: for seven days shall he consecrate you.

Do not go out through the entrance of the meeting tent for a full week, until your sacred dedication is complete. For seven days, you will be made holy.

34

As he hath done this day, so the LORD hath commanded to do, to make an atonement for you.

Just as he did today, God has instructed us to seek forgiveness and reconciliation.

35

Therefore shall ye abide at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the LORD, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.

Stay faithfully at the entrance of the meeting tent, day and night for a week, and keep God's charge, or you will die. This is what I've been ordered to tell you.

36

So Aaron and his sons did all things which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

With complete obedience and heartfelt devotion, Aaron and his sons carried out every instruction given by the LORD through Moses.
