Psalm 112, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

Celebrate God's glory. The person who respects and finds joy in God's teachings is truly fortunate.

2

His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

His descendants will be powerful in the world: those who walk the path of righteousness will know true blessing.

3

Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

His home will overflow with prosperity, and his goodness will never fade.

4

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

In the hearts of the good, a light shines even in the darkest times. They are kind, deeply caring, and just.

5

A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

A kind person generously gives and lends, managing his matters wisely with care and understanding.

6

Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

He will remain unshaken forever; the good will always be remembered.

7

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

He won't fear bad news; his heart is steady, full of faith in God.

8

His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

His heart is steady and fearless; he will not be afraid, and in the end he will see his enemies defeated.

9

He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

He has generously shared, given to those in need; his goodness is everlasting; his strength and honor will forever be uplifted.

10

The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

When the evil ones witness it, they will be filled with sorrow. They will grit their teeth in anger and slowly crumble. Their wicked wishes will fade away.
