Psalm 54, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

God, in your name, rescue me. In your power, give me justice.

2

Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

Listen to my plea, O God; lend your ear to my spoken thoughts.

3

For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.

Outsiders rise up against me, ruthless people are out to take my life, oblivious of God's presence. Pause and reflect.

4

Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

Feel it in your heart, God is my support, always standing by those who nurture my spirit.

5

He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.

He will repay my foes with their own wickedness; in your faithfulness, destroy them.

6

I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.

With joy in my heart, I will willingly offer sacrifices to you. I'll sing your praises, O LORD, for your goodness is undeniable.

7

For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.

He has rescued me from every hardship, and I have witnessed His justice against my foes.
