Psalm 63, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

My God, you are my everything. I'll seek you at dawn, my soul craves for you. My body yearns for you, like a parched land longing for rain.

2

To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

To witness your strength and majesty, just as I have experienced your presence in the sacred place.

3

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Your love surpasses life itself, and for that, my words will always honor you.

4

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

As long as I breathe, I will honor you, raising my hands in reverence to your name.

5

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

My heart will be filled with deep joy and contentment, and my words will sing your praises with happiness.

6

When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

When I think of you as I lay in bed, and reflect on you during the quiet of the night, my heart fills with emotion.

7

Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

Because you've always been there for me, I find joy and comfort under your protective wings.

8

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

My heart passionately seeks you; your strong hand supports me.

9

But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

Those who wish harm upon me will descend into the depths of the earth.

10

They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.

They will meet their end in battle, their remains left as food for the foxes.

11

But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

The king will find joy in God; all who honor Him will be filled with pride. But those who spread falsehoods will be silenced.
