Psalm 68, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
May God stand tall, may those against Him scatter in fear: may those who despise Him run from His presence.
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
Just as smoke is swept away by the wind, let evil be swept away too. Like wax melting in the heat of a flame, may wrongdoers dissolve in the presence of God.
But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
Let those who are just, feel joy; let them celebrate in God's presence, yes, let their happiness overflow.
Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
Pour your heart out in song to God, shower His name with praises. Celebrate the one who soars across the skies, known as JAH, and let joy fill your heart in His presence.
A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
God, in His sacred home, is like a loving dad to those without one, and a fair judge for the widows.
God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
God lovingly places the lonely into families; He frees those shackled in chains. However, those who rebel find themselves in barren lands.
O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:
Oh Lord, when you led your people, when you walked through the barren desert; Pause and reflect.
The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
God's presence was so powerful that it made the earth tremble, and the heavens poured down rain. Even Mount Sinai shook before Him. Such is the might of the God of Israel.
Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.
God, you generously showered us with rain, reviving your tired and weary creation.
Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.
Your community has lived there, and you, oh God, have lovingly provided for those in need.
The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
God shared His message, and a vast crowd spread it with immense joy and reverence.
Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.
Army leaders fled swiftly, while the woman who stayed behind shared the spoils.
Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.
Even if you've been stuck in the dirt and grime, you will rise, shining and precious, like a dove adorned in silver and gold.
When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon.
When God dispersed the kings, it was as pure and serene as snowfall on Salmon.
The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.
God's mountain stands majestic, just like the towering peak of Bashan.
Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
Why do you, mighty mountains, jump with envy? This humble hill is where God chooses to reside; indeed, the LORD will make it His eternal home.
The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
God's divine fleet is vast, filled with countless angels. The Lord, present and powerful, is there, just as He was in the sacred Sinai.
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
You rose to the heavens, leading captives in your train. You accepted gifts for all, even the defiant, so that our Lord God may live among us.
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
Praise be to the Lord, who showers us with blessings every day, our God who saves us. Pause and reflect.
He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.
Our God is the divine savior, and it is He who holds the keys to life and death.
But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.
God will surely punish those who persist in their wrongdoings, striking them at their core.
The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:
With a promise filled with love and determination, the Lord declared, "From the far reaches of Bashan and the deepest parts of the sea, I will bring back my people."
That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.
So that your feet may be dipped in the blood of your foes, and even your dogs may lap it up.
They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
They've witnessed your actions, O God; the sacred movements of my God, my King, within the holy place.
The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.
The melody leaders led the way, followed by the musicians; amidst them, young ladies joyfully played their tambourines.
Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel.
Praise God together in your gatherings, and honor the Lord, who is the source of all blessings in Israel.
There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
Benjamin, the smallest tribe, stands strong with its leader. Judah's nobles gather with their wisdom. The leaders of Zebulun and Naphtali, too, stand united.
Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.
Your God has given you strength: May God fortify the blessings He has bestowed upon us.
Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.
Due to the reverence for your sanctuary in Jerusalem, kings will offer you gifts.
Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter thou the people that delight in war.
Confront the warriors, the hordes of oppressors, along with their followers, until each one surrenders, offering silver in submission. Disperse those who revel in conflict.
Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.
Leaders will emerge from Egypt, and soon, Ethiopia will reach out in longing to God.
Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:
All you realms across the earth, pour your hearts out to God; shower Him with your praises; Pause and reflect.
To him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.
To the one who journeys across the ancient skies, listen, for he speaks with a powerful voice.
Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
Acknowledge God's mighty power: His greatness reigns over Israel, and His strength is as boundless as the sky.
O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
God, your presence in sacred spaces is awe-inspiring. You, the God of Israel, empower and strengthen your people. Praise be to God.
