1

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

Everyone, rejoice and applaud with joy; let your victorious cheers echo for God.

2

For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

The LORD Almighty is awe-inspiring; He is the supreme ruler of the entire world.

3

He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

He will subdue the peoples under us and place the nations beneath our feet.

4

He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

He will lovingly select our destiny, honoring the greatness of beloved Jacob. Pause and reflect.

5

God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.

With joyous cheers, God ascends, the Lord's departure marked by the resounding call of a trumpet.

6

Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

Pour out your heart in joyful melodies to God, let every note honor our King. Let your praises ring out!

7

For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

God reigns supreme over the entire world. Let's celebrate His majesty with heartfelt joy and wisdom.

8

God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

God rules over all people, seated on his throne of pure holiness.

9

The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Leaders from all walks of life, including those who follow the God of Abraham, have come together. They understand that all protection on earth comes from God. His greatness is beyond measure.
