Psalm 61, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
Listen to my plea, O God; pay attention to my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
From the farthest corners of the world, I'll call out to you when I'm drowning in my emotions. Guide me to a place of stability and strength, greater than myself.
For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
You've been my safe haven, my fortress against foes.
I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
I will forever find home in your sacred space, and find comfort under the protection of your wings. Pause and reflect.
For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
You, my God, have listened to my promises; you've blessed me with the legacy of those who respect your name.
Thou wilt prolong the king’s life: and his years as many generations.
You will bless the king with a long life, letting him live through countless generations.
He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
He will forever stand in God's presence. Please, ready compassion and honesty to protect him.
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
I will forever express my gratitude to you, fulfilling my promises each day with joy and sincerity.
