Psalm 46, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

God is our safe haven and source of power, always there to aid us in times of distress.

2

Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Even if the world crumbles and mountains plunge into the sea, we won't be afraid.

3

Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

Even when the seas rage and churn, even when the mountains tremble and quake, find peace.

4

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

A joyful river flows, its streams bringing happiness to God's city, the sacred home of the Almighty.

5

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

God resides within her, providing unshakeable strength. He will assist her promptly and assuredly.

6

The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

Nations were in uproar, kingdoms fell; when he spoke, the earth trembled in awe.

7

The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Our mighty protector, the God of Jacob, stands with us; He is our safe haven. Pause and feel His presence.

8

Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

Come, witness the mighty acts of the Lord, see the devastation He has brought upon the earth.

9

He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

He brings peace to the world, ending all wars; He destroys weapons and burns war chariots, symbolizing the end of conflict.

10

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Calm your heart, realize I am your God. My glory will shine among all people, my greatness will cover the earth.

11

The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Our mighty protector, the God of all, stands by our side; He, the God of Jacob, is our safe haven. Pause and reflect.
