Psalm 21, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
The king will find immense joy in your strength, O LORD; and his happiness will know no bounds with your salvation!
Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
You've fulfilled his deepest wish and never denied his spoken requests. Pause and reflect.
For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
You shower him with abundant blessings and crown him with pure golden glory.
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
He requested life from you, and you generously granted it, blessing him with endless days of eternity.
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
His triumph is magnificent in your rescue; you've graced him with respect and grandeur.
For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
You've forever blessed him and filled his heart with immense joy through your divine presence.
For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
The king places his faith in God, and with God's compassion, he remains unshaken.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
Your hand will hunt down all your foes; your right hand will seize those who hate you.
Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
When you're angry, they'll feel like they're in a burning furnace. God will consume them in his fury, and they'll be consumed by fire.
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
You will wipe their children from the earth, and their descendants from among humanity.
For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
They planned to harm you, concocting wicked schemes they couldn't carry out.
Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
You will make them retreat in fear, as you prepare your arrows, ready to strike against them.
Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
May you rise high, LORD, in your own might: and we will joyfully celebrate your power.
