Psalm 30, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

I praise you deeply, Lord, for you've raised me high, not letting my enemies celebrate my downfall.

2

O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

My dear Lord, I called out to you in my pain, and you, in your infinite kindness, healed me.

3

O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

Lord, you've rescued my spirit from the brink of death; you've preserved my life, preventing me from falling into the abyss.

4

Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Celebrate the Lord, all you who love Him, and express your gratitude as you recall His pure goodness.

5

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

His anger is fleeting, but His love brings life. Tears may last through the night, but happiness arrives with dawn.

6

And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

In my good times, I confidently declared, I will never falter.

7

LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

God, your love has made my strength unshakeable. But when you turned away, I was filled with distress.

8

I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.

I poured out my heart to you, O LORD; I begged for your help, LORD.

9

What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

What good is my death, when I descend into the grave? Can the lifeless dust sing your praises or speak of your faithfulness?

10

Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.

Listen to me, O LORD, please show me your compassion. LORD, I need you to be my guide and support.

11

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

You've transformed my sorrow into joyous dance; you've replaced my grief with radiant happiness.

12

To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

So that my soul may joyfully sing your praises without end, O LORD my God, I will forever express my gratitude to you.
