Psalm 95, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Let's joyfully sing praises to the Lord, expressing our happiness to the foundation of our salvation.

2

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Let's joyfully enter His presence, expressing our gratitude, and fill the air with uplifting songs for Him.

3

For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

Our Lord is an extraordinary God, the supreme ruler over all deities.

4

In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.

He holds the mysteries of the earth in his grasp, and even the mightiest mountains draw their strength from him.

5

The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

The ocean belongs to Him, for He created it; His hands sculpted the land we walk upon.

6

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

Let's gather together, filled with awe and reverence, humbly kneeling before our Creator, the Lord.

7

For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the flock in His care. Today, if you hear His voice,

8

Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

Don't let your heart become stubborn, like it did during those challenging times in the wilderness.

9

When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.

When your ancestors tested me, challenged me, and witnessed my actions.

10

Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

For forty years I was angry with that generation. I said, "Their hearts keep straying; they've lost their way and don't understand my ways."

11

Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

In my anger, I made a solemn promise that they would never find peace in my sanctuary.
