Psalm 131, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

God, I'm not arrogant or proud, and I don't pretend to know or understand things beyond my reach.

2

Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

Indeed, I have calmed and composed myself, like a child no longer needing its mother's milk: my spirit is as content as that child.

3

Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.

May Israel forever find hope and comfort in the Lord's embrace.
