Psalm 98, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

Celebrate the Lord with a fresh melody, for He has performed incredible deeds. His strength and purity have led Him to triumph.

2

The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

God has revealed His saving grace, displaying His righteousness for all, even non-believers, to see.

3

He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

God has not forgotten His promise of mercy and truth to Israel. Everyone, everywhere has witnessed God's saving grace.

4

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Fill your heart with joy and let it echo across the earth for the Lord. Celebrate loudly, be happy, and sing your praises.

5

Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

Express your love for the Lord through the melody of the harp; let the harp and the heartfelt words of a psalm be your voice.

6

With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

Celebrate and rejoice loudly with trumpets and horns, expressing your joy before our Lord, the King.

7

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

May the ocean's mighty roar echo, filled with life; let the earth and all its inhabitants resonate with it.

8

Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

Let the waters celebrate with applause, let the mountains rejoice in unison.

9

Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

Prepare your hearts, for the LORD is coming. He will fairly judge the world and its people with unerring justice.
