Psalm 87, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
His foundation is in the holy mountains.
His roots are deeply anchored in the sacred hills.
The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
God adores the gates of Zion more than all the other homes of Jacob's people.
Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.
God's city, you are praised with beautiful words. Pause and reflect.
I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.
I will speak of Rahab and Babylon to those who understand me: look upon Philistia, Tyre, and Ethiopia; this man came from there.
And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.
In Zion, it will be proudly declared, "This person and that person were born here!" And the Supreme One Himself will affirm her strength and existence.
The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.
As God records the lives of all people, He will note with joy, "This person was born here." Pause and reflect.
As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.
Musicians and singers will gather, for you are the source of all my joy and inspiration.
