Psalm 32, verse by verse

Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.

1

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Fortunate is the one who is pardoned for their mistakes, whose wrongdoings are covered by forgiveness.

2

Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Fortunate is the person who God doesn't blame for wrongdoings, and who is genuinely pure at heart.

3

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

When I held my peace, my body aged under the weight of my unspoken screams.

4

For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

Your presence weighed on me constantly, day and night. My vitality faded, like the parched lands in summer. Pause and reflect.

5

I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

I openly admit my wrongdoings to you, not hiding any of my faults. I promised to reveal all my mistakes to God, and you, in your mercy, forgave me. Pause and reflect.

6

For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

Everyone who loves God should pray to Him when He can be found. Even in the midst of overwhelming troubles, they will not touch him.

7

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

You are my safe haven, protecting me from harm. You surround me with melodies of freedom. Pause and reflect.

8

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

I will lovingly guide and teach you the path you should follow; I will watch over you with a caring gaze.

9

Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

Don't be like a horse or mule, lacking understanding and needing to be controlled. Instead, willingly come close.

10

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.

Those who do wrong will face much pain, but those who believe in God will be surrounded by His loving kindness.

11

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Find joy in God, celebrate, you good-hearted people: let your happiness echo loudly, all you with pure hearts.
