Psalm 143, verse by verse
Each verse is given twice: first in the King James Version, then in the World Bible Guide plain reading.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.
Listen to my plea, LORD, lend your ear to my requests. In your unwavering trust, respond to me, and through your pure justice.
And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.
Please, don't judge your servant; for no one can be deemed perfect in your eyes.
For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.
My adversary has tormented my spirit, crushed my life into dust, and left me in the shadows, feeling as forgotten as the long departed.
Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.
I'm feeling utterly lost and alone; my heart is filled with emptiness.
I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.
I fondly recall the past, reflecting deeply on all your creations, lost in thought over the miracles shaped by your hands.
I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.
I reach out to you, craving your presence like a parched land yearns for rain.
Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.
Please listen quickly, Lord, for my strength is fading. Don't turn away from me, or I'll be lost like those who fall into darkness.
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Let me wake up to the sound of your love, for I trust you completely. Guide me on the right path, for I give you my heart and soul.
Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.
Lord, save me from those who wish me harm. I run to you for shelter.
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Guide me to follow your path, for you are my God. Your spirit is pure and kind; lead me towards a life of righteousness.
Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.
Revive me, O Lord, for the honor of your name. For the sake of your goodness, rescue my soul from distress.
And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.
With your compassion, cut off my enemies and destroy all who torment me, for I am your servant.
